Though \u201cAssassination Run\u201d was the original title of The Boys<\/em>\u2019 newest episode (which dropped today), it is now listed as \u201cSeason Four Finale\u201d and opens with a warning explaining that the episode \u201ccontains scenes of fictional political violence\u201d whose similarities to recent real-world events \u201care completely coincidental and unintentional.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Given The Boys<\/em>\u2019 track record of presenting many of its characters as analogues for actual political figures<\/a>, Amazon\u2019s move to suddenly insist that the show\u2019s obvious parallels to our reality just happened by chance is hard to take at face value. Understandably, the company doesn\u2019t want one of its buzzier shows to become embroiled in the drama that\u2019s shaping the US\u2019s presidential election cycle or be accused of encouraging people to take up arms.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
