Splitgate <\/em>isn\u2019t dead yet. On Thursday, developer 1047 Games revealed a cinematic trailer for Splitgate 2<\/em><\/a>, a revamped version of the free-to-play multiplayer shooter, which uses the same portal mechanic that made the game so fun the first time around.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n When Splitgate 2<\/em> launches in 2025, it will come with some notable upgrades. The developers say they\u2019ve<\/a> \u201crebuilt everything from the ground up\u201d in Unreal Engine 5<\/a> and also added a new faction-based system. \u201cThere will be familiar elements, but on the whole,\u00a0Splitgate 2<\/em>\u00a0should look and feel completely fresh from the original,\u201d 1047 Games says.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n While the Splitgate 2<\/em> trailer doesn\u2019t feature actual gameplay, it does give us a peek at the Splitgate<\/em> world 1047 Games is focused on building. There\u2019s a new mobile companion app you can download on Android<\/a> and iOS<\/a> that has free comics, rewards, and other features. I have to admit, I didn\u2019t expect much from a sequel after the end of the first Splitgate \u2014<\/em> but the new focus on lore has me looking forward to getting back into the game.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
