Though there are implications of the climate crisis being at work in the film&#8217;s record breaking tornadoes, you&#8217;ll never hear a character actually say the words &#8220;climate change&#8221; or mention global warming even among the scientist characters.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I just wanted to make sure that with the movie, we don\u2019t ever feel like [it] is putting forward any message. I just don\u2019t feel like films are meant to be message-oriented,&#8221; said director Lee Isaac Chung.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think what we are doing is showing the reality of what\u2019s happening on the ground &#8230; we don\u2019t shy away from saying that things are changing,\u201d Lee added. &#8220;I wanted to make sure that we are never creating a feeling that we\u2019re preaching a message, because that\u2019s certainly not what I think cinema should be about.
