Tamburello has competed in 19 <em>Challenge<\/em> seasons, but <em>Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras<\/em> may be the season to break him.<\/p>\n<p>Literally. <\/p>\n<p>C.T., along with 39 other contestants, are set to duke it out on the 40th season of <em>The Challenge<\/em>. It\u2019s bigger. It\u2019s bolder. Tamburello Suffer Back Injury During \u2018Challenge 40\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Love him or hate him, C.T. is a 5-time winner of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tvfanatic.com\/paramount-shutters-mtv-comedy-central-cmt-websites-outraging-fan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MTV\u2019s<\/a> <em>The Challenge<\/em>. He\u2019s proven time and time again that he\u2019s willing to go to the extreme to win the top prize.<\/p>\n<p>Whether he ultimately goes all the way on <em>Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras<\/em> remains to be seen, but if he does, he\u2019ll have overcome quite the injury to do so. <\/p>\n<p>You see, the trailer for the new season dropped on July 16th. The sneak peek shows competitors from the past 39 seasons of the reality series fighting it out in \u201crelentless new challenges and twists,\u201d per the press release.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Q1_W4yjPJmU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Q1_W4yjPJmU<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>People are jumping off buildings, driving cars off of cliffs, and leaping off trucks, suspended from \u2026 a helicopter?!<\/p>\n<p>But towards the end of the trailer, tragedy is teased. C.T. is shown being carried off on a backboard after an apparent back injury. Right before, viewers can see him tumbling, mid-air during an event, but little more is explained. In the clip, C.T. can be heard saying, \u201cMy back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, rest assured: C.T. seems fine. Well enough to film the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2024\/06\/the-traitors-season-3-spoilers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Traitors<\/a><\/em> season 2. He was walking around just fine. <\/p>\n<p>Then again, this might be the year he finally retires? The forty returning contestants will be broken up in into four teams, or \u201cEras\u201d (Thank you, Taylor Swift.)<\/p>\n<p>In the trailer, host <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2024\/04\/tj-lavin-accident\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TJ Lavin<\/a> breaks down what we can expect from each team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEra I started it all,\u201d he explains, talking about the first set of contestants from the first ten seasons.
