Eric Mabius<\/strong>\u00a0couldn\u2019t be happier watching his former Ugly Betty<\/em><\/a> costars continue to shine since the show\u2019s 2010 finale.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had so much fun working with everyone,\u201d Mabius, 53, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> of his Ugly Betty<\/em><\/a> castmates while promoting his latest Hallmark Mystery movie, Signed, Sealed, Delivered: A Tale of Three Letters<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t have a bad word to say about any single one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor, who played Daniel Meade on the show, noted that the cast \u201cused to get together more often<\/a>\u201d but \u201clife happens.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ugly Betty<\/em> premiered on ABC in 2006 and followed the not-so-stylish Betty (America Ferrera<\/strong><\/a>) after she landed a job at a prestigious fashion magazine in New York City. Betty evolves during her time at Mode<\/em> magazine \u2014 and improves her boss, Daniel\u2019s (Mabius) life along the way \u2014 before becoming an editor herself.<\/p>\n

Although the cast of Ugly Betty<\/em> has gone their separate ways, Mabius told Us<\/em> that his manager still represents Ana Ortiz<\/strong>, who played Hilda Suarez, and Vanessa Williams<\/strong><\/a>, who portrayed Wilhelmina Slater, after he introduced them on the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, that\u2019s how much I love my costars,\u201d he said, sharing that he keeps \u201ctabs on their careers<\/a> as they evolve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferrera, 40, earned her first Oscar nomination for 2023\u2019s Barbie<\/em> more than a decade after Ugly Betty<\/em> came to an end. That same year, Judith Light<\/strong><\/a>, who played Daniel\u2019s mother, Claire Meade, on the sitcom, won her first Emmy Award for her role on Poker Face<\/em> \u2014 and they aren\u2019t the only ones who\u2019ve had continued success.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAs networks make decisions about their programming, Us Weekly will continue to track what has been renewed and which TV shows have been canceled. Slow Horses was the first show to score a renewal in 2024. In early January, Apple TV+ picked up the series for a fifth season, which will be based on Mick [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI just enjoy [watching] them,\u201d Mabius told Us<\/em> of his former costars. \u201c[Seeing] Becki Newton<\/strong> on The Lincoln Lawyer<\/em> and reading about Michael Urie<\/strong>\u2019s conquest on Broadway. It\u2019s great.\u201d (Newton played Amanda Tanen on Ugly Betty<\/em>, while Urie portrayed Marc St. James.)<\/p>\n

Mabius gushed: \u201cIt\u2019s like hearing about your siblings doing really well in the world, and it\u2019s a really great feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to rooting for his former castmates, Mabius said he loves that new generations have discovered the show. \u201c[There\u2019s] a whole new generation [of] parents who are my age introducing their kids to [it] and having a whole other type of experience watching the show together,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s really neat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking back, Mabius revealed that the \u201chighest compliment\u201d the cast ever received was when someone told them their dying grandmother loved the show. Before she died, her family asked, \u201c\u2018What are you gonna miss most when you\u2019re gone?\u2019 And she said, \u2018I think what I\u2019ll miss most is sitting around with you watching Ugly Betty<\/em>,’\u201d Mabius remembered.<\/p>\n

He explained that sort of love for one of his projects is \u201csomething to strive for in life,\u201d adding that it meant a lot to see the Ugly Betty<\/em> team \u201cput something into the world that made a difference and continues to make a difference to people\u2019s lives and [for] people trying to struggle with their own identity and where they fit in the world and everyone [who is] feeling like a fish out of water and show them how making them a little bit more OK.\u201d<\/p>\n

While an Ugly Betty<\/em> reunion is not in the works, Mabius told Us<\/em> he\u2019d \u201clove all of them\u201d to come and join his Hallmark Mystery family in a future installment of the Signed, Sealed, Delivered<\/em><\/a> franchise.<\/p>\n

Mabius, meanwhile, reconnected with his SSD<\/em> family earlier this year to film two new movies for Hallmark. The 12th film overall, titled A Tale of Three Letters<\/em>, premiered on Friday, July 12. The 13th installment, Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Moon and Back<\/em><\/a>, will premiere on Hallmark Mystery in 2025.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Hallmark Mystery channel has won over fans with its variety of thrilling franchises over the years \u2014 and the list just keeps getting longer. Candace Cameron Bure, Lacey Chabert, Alison Sweeney and Holly Robinson Peete are just some of the names that have had their own movie series on the network over the years. [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While the franchise was a big success for the network, it had been three years since the Postables \u2014 a.k.a Denver\u2019s Dead Letter Office \u2014 teamed up for a new project. According to Mabius, their comeback had a lot to do with the fans.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey really stuck by us and inspired homework I think to open up to more [films] and [convince creator] Martha [Williamson]<\/strong> to go back and look at the cannon and decide where she wanted to go to next,\u201d he told Us<\/em>. \u201cShe\u2019s not gonna tell a story if she doesn\u2019t have a real reason to.\u201d<\/p>\n

When it comes to what fans can expect for To the Moon and Back\u2019s story line, Mabius confirmed that his character Oliver\u2019s new role as a dad will be a big part of the journey. (Oliver\u2019s wife, Shane, played by Kristin Booth<\/strong>, announced her pregnancy in A Tale of Three Letters<\/em><\/a>).<\/p>\n
