On Friday (Jul. 12, 2024), the Oscar-winning actor joined a panel at the National Governors Association, discussing how to foster civility in politics with Utah&#8217;s Republican Gov. Spencer Cox and Colorado&#8217;s Democratic <strong>Gov. Jared Polis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Though he remained elusive about his potential party affiliation and specific office plans, McConaughey&#8217;s interest in politics is clear. McConaughey noted that the extreme polarization often seen online has seeped into Hollywood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy industry has to watch its tongue right out of the gate because it&#8217;s coming from the left. Josh Green<\/strong> encouraged McConaughey to pursue a political career. \u201cDon&#8217;t fall into the trap of thinking you have to be just one thing,\u201d Green advised. \u201cMany Republicans will want you to be a Republican, and many Democrats will want you to be a Democrat.
