Celine Dion has been forced<\/a> to take a lengthy hiatus from performing due to stiff-person syndrome\u2026 a rare and incurable neurological disease that can cause debilitating muscle spasms.<\/p>\nShe has vowed to return to the stage at some point, however.<\/p>\n
And The Sun reported in late June that the icon has been offered a spot at the Olympics.<\/p>\n
As cited above, they will be held in Paris this year \u2014 and Dion speaks fluent French, having been born in Quebec. Hoda Kotb recently interviewed Dion for NBC and then later appeared on Watch What Happens Live.<\/p>\n
She told Andy Cohen during this appearance that the artist almost spilled on her upcoming performing plans, detailing an exchange she overheard as follows: <\/p>\n
\u201cThey were shooting us doing that walk-and-talk and her manager was off-camera. And I go, \u2018So what\u2019s going on, when are you performing again?\u2019 And she goes, \u2018Can I tell her?\u2019 And her manager goes, \u2018NO!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s not gonna be [the Olympics],\u201d he said this month while chatting with Kotb. \u201cAnd here\u2019s why: I think it would be amazing, but my understanding is that this is something that she can\u2019t control.\u201d<\/p>\n
To be clear, Cohen has no inside knowledge in this case.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it\u2019s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I\u2019ve been going through\u2026<\/p>\n
\u201cRecently, I\u2019ve been diagnosed with a very rare neurological condition called stiff-person syndrome, which affects something like one in a million people.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile we\u2019re still learning about this rare condition, we now know that this is what has been causing all of the spasms that I\u2019ve been having.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life,\u201d Dion continued in her video in 2022, although she did leave the door open to perform again\u2026 at some point.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll I know is singing,\u201d she said back then. \u201cIt\u2019s what I\u2019ve done all my life. And it\u2019s what I love to do the most.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
