Jelly Roll<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s wife, Bunnie Xo<\/strong><\/a>, was intrigued by the country singer from the moment she first laid eyes on him! The model recently opened up about her first impression of her husband on the night they met in 2015.<\/p>\n \u201cI was like, \u2018What is this? What is this man? This big southern boy,’\u201d Bunnie, 44, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, said on the Tuesday, July 9, episode of her \u201cDumb Blonde<\/a>\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n The podcast host and Jelly, 39, met at the Las Vegas Country Saloon when he was opening for the Moonshine Bandits. Bunnie said that the crowd and the venue itself were small, and Jelly wasn\u2019t a known artist at the time, which allowed them to connect. She explained that she and her fellow concertgoers were \u201cbackstage drinking and stuff like that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNobody even knew who he was,\u201d she added. \u201cHe was opening for the Moonshine Bandits. He might have had a little pop in Nashville, but people on the West Coast didn\u2019t know who he was. We were there for the Moonshine Bandits.\u201d<\/p>\n Jelly, whose real name is Jason DeFord, previously shared his side of the first encounter with his wife during an appearance on the \u201cKing and the Sting and the Wing Clips\u201d podcast in 2020. The \u201cSon of a Sinner\u201d hitmaker revealed that he and Bunnie talked backstage, but she was in a relationship at the time. However, they kept in touch via mutual friends and got together after she and her boyfriend broke up.<\/p>\n \u201cThey split, and I\u2019m not going to act like I shot my shot. She kind of shot hers,\u201d Jelly said.<\/p>\n The CMT Music Awards winner revealed that he told Bunnie about his plans to drive to Las Vegas to film music video content, and she offered to let him stay at her home.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a white trash love story,\u201d he joked, adding that he was \u201cbroke\u201d and living in his van at the time. \u201cWhen I hugged her, I could just feel the genuineness of her. I could tell it wasn\u2019t an act.\u201d<\/p>\n Jelly and Bunnie got engaged in 2016 and wasted no time at all getting married<\/a>. They held a ceremony that same day at a chapel in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n \u201cWe got married kind of randomly,\u201d the \u201cSave Me\u201d singer said on \u201dKing and the Sting and the Wing Clips.\u201d \u201cIt was Vegas, right? So it\u2019s like 11:00. They\u2019re closing the joint down by Hard Rock [Cafe] and I\u2019m like, \u2018F\u2013k it. Let\u2019s just go now.\u2019 She\u2019s like, \u2018The courthouse is open for about 34 to 44 more minutes.\u2019 I was like, \u2018Let\u2019s f\u2013king roll.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Bunnie became a stepmom to Jelly\u2019s daughter, Bailee, 16, and son, Noah, 7, both from previous relationships. The couple, who renewed their vows in 2023, is also trying to expand their family via in vitro fertilization<\/a> (IVF).<\/p>\n \u201cMy wife and I are talking about having a baby,\u201d Jelly said on the \u201cBussin\u2019 With the Boys\u201d podcast on June 4. \u201cAnd it really made me realize that at almost 40, I was like, it means I got to live to at least 60. I got to see this kid into college.\u201d<\/p>\n Bunnie shared a clip from the podcast on Instagram and wrote, \u201cWe had planned on doing this privately but decided our IVF journey needed to be shared because we\u2019ve always been so open. And w\/ all odds stacked against us, it\u2019s already been hard and we have only just begun. We have been meeting w\/ IVF doctors & exploring all our options to add to our family.\u201d<\/p>\n The musician continued, \u201cJ & I are so excited & scared all at the same time.
