Former President Donald Trump<\/strong> was rushed offstage by Secret Service agents at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13.<\/p>\n The chaos came after a series of loud pops that may have been gunshots were heard. Trump fell to the ground and was covered by agents. In a video of the rally<\/a>, Trump is visibly bloody around his right ear after standing back up. He halted his Secret Service detail to hold up a fist to the crowd and seemed to say the word \u201cfight\u201d repeatedly before being escorted away.<\/p>\n \u201cAn incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania. The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe,\u201d the Secret Service shared in a statement. \u201cThis is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available.\u201d<\/p>\n In a statement shared with CNN<\/a>, Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung<\/strong> said the current Republican front-runner for president was \u201cfine\u201d following the incident.<\/p>\n \u201cPresident Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow,\u201d Cheung shared with the outlet.<\/p>\n According to multiple<\/a> outlets<\/a>, Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger has shared that the suspected assailant was killed. Goldinger reportedly said that one audience member at the rally had been killed and another wounded.<\/p>\n Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro<\/strong> called the incident \u201cabsolutely unacceptable\u201d in a post to X<\/a> and said state police are aiding in the investigation on scene.<\/p>\n \u201cViolence targeted at any political party or political leader is absolutely unacceptable. It has no place in Pennsylvania or the United States,\u201d Shapiro wrote. \u201cI have been briefed on the situation. [State Police] are on the scene in Butler County and working with our federal and local partners.\u201d<\/p>\n Political figures across the spectrum in the U.S. are weighing in on the news.GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson<\/strong> shared that he was \u201cpraying for President Trump\u201d in a post to X<\/a>. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries<\/strong> said he was similarly thinking of the former president.<\/p>\n \u201cMy thoughts and prayers are with former President Trump. I am thankful for the decisive law enforcement response,\u201d he wrote via X<\/a>. \u201cAmerica is a democracy. Political violence of any kind is never acceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n U.S. politicians weren\u2019t the only ones offering sympathy for Trump following the incident.<\/p>\n
