The 66-year-old actor burst into tears when it was thrown out of court on Friday (12.07.24), after judge Mary Marlowe Sommer decided it should be dumped after she heard claims from his legal team prosecutors had allegedly buried evidence linked to the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, on the set of neo-Western \u2018Rust\u2019 in 2021.<\/p>\n

On Saturday (13.07.24) he posted on Instagram alongside an image of himself at Santa Fe County District Courthouse with his fingers to his lips as he looked up: \u201cThere are too many people who have supported me to thank just now.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo all of you, you will never know how much I appreciate your kindness toward my family.\u201d<\/p>\n

His post was liked by more than 1,000 people within minutes, and his supporters included Sir Anthony Hopkins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\u2018The Silence of the Lambs\u2019 actor, 86, responded to Alec\u2019s post with a red heart emoji.<\/p>\n

\nAlec was indicted by a New Mexico grand jury in January after the gun he was holding during a 2021 rehearsal on the set of \u2018Rust\u2019 discharged, killing mother-of-one Halyna and injuring the film\u2019s 51-year-old director Joel Souza.<\/p>\n

\nThe actor has since maintained he didn\u2019t pull the trigger of the gun or know why it contained live ammunition. <\/p>\n

\nHe pleaded not guilty but if he\u2019d been convicted faced up to 18 months in prison.<\/p>\n

\n\u2018Rust\u2019 resumed filming and finished its shoot in May 2023, saying in an Instagram post marking its completion: \u201cIt\u2019s been a long and difficult road. But we reach the end of the trail today.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nFather-of-eight Alec and his wife Hilaria Baldwin, 40, are making a reality series called \u2018The Baldwins\u2019 after it was announced in June, about their family life.<\/p>\n

\nThe couple have seven children \u2013 19-month-old Ilaria Catalina Irena, three-year-olds Mar\u00eda Luc\u00eda Victoria and Eduardo \u2018Edu\u2019 Pao Lucas, as well as Romeo Alejandro David, five, Leonardo \u00c1ngel Charles, seven, Rafael Thomas, eight, and 10-year-old Carmen Gabriela. <\/p>\n

\nAlec also has daughter Ireland, 28, with his 70-year-old actress ex-wife Kim Basinger.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
