Below Deck Mediterranean<\/em><\/a>\u2018s Captain Sandy Yawn<\/strong><\/a> really left an impression as a boss on Joe Bradley<\/strong> and Nathan Gallagher.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly<\/em>, Joe and Nathan couldn\u2019t help but gush while discussing their time working for the captain.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was an absolutely amazing and fantastic experience,\u201d Joe shared. \u201cI\u2019m going to go on a boat in three days and I\u2019m going to take what she\u2019s taught me onto this boat. What a powerful woman this woman is.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lead deckhand was thankful for the mentorship<\/a> that Sandy showed him, adding, \u201cIf anything, she\u2019s taught me very well and she\u2019s such a good leader.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOver the years, Below Deck fans have become familiar with many captains \u2014 and some made more memorable impressions than others. Below Deck, which premiered in 2013, explored the glamorous world of yachting and the not as beautiful behind-the-scenes situations that the crew must handle. The first season introduced viewers to Captain Lee Rosbach and [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Nathan felt exactly the same way about reporting to Sandy. \u201cShe had to deal with a lot [during season 9]. And the way that Sandy handled it so far was absolutely amazing,\u201d he told Us<\/em>. \u201cThe patience that she showed us was amazing. So I\u2019m taking that into my new and future roles.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Joe, he and Nathan will only develop more as people because they got \u201csuch a good leader\u201d who set an example<\/a> for them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe aspire to be a good leader like that,\u201d Joe said before Nathan joked, \u201cEven though we\u2019re cheeky \u2014 we do actually take ourselves seriously sometimes. We\u2019re halfway there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Season 9 of Below Deck Mediterranean<\/em> marked Sandy\u2019s eighth year on the show. In addition to familiar faces such as chief stew Aesha Scott<\/strong><\/a> and stew Ellie Dubaich<\/strong>, Sandy was joined by newcomers including Joe and Nathan. The crew was in for a special surprise when Sandy got engaged to now-wife Leah Shafer<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n

Joe called the moment very \u201cspecial,\u201d noting, \u201cWhat an honor to be in that timeline and experience this with her.\u201d Nathan, meanwhile, admitted that seeing Sandy and Leah take the next step<\/a> in their relationship got to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI might have even shed a tear. It was quite emotional,\u201d the deckhand recalled. \u201cIt was beautiful to see. It was so good. God, we got love with Captain Sandy. We used to watch [her] on the TV and then we were at their engagement. It\u2019s crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Joe and Nathan were always on the same page with Sandy, the same couldn\u2019t be said for bosun Iain Maclean<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cAll we knew is that we could get the job done,\u201d Joe explained about the rocky boss-employee relationship between Iain and his crew. \u201cSo the message that he\u2019s relaying, we will listen to every single word that he says.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tViewers have had a front row seat to some of the biggest reality TV feuds since the Below Deck franchise debuted. The show\u2019s spinoff series Below Deck Mediterranean shocked viewers when Hannah Ferrier and Captain Sandy Yawn\u2018s inability to see eye to eye turned into the most memorable firing to date. Since the captain joined [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Nathan, however, quipped that sometimes they might \u201calter\u201d their instructions a bit<\/a>, to which Joe added, \u201cWe might alter to get the job done. But that\u2019s OK. Regardless, the job\u2019s going to get done on a professional level.\u201d<\/p>\n
