Huma Abedin<\/a> is engaged!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On Wednesday, the political staffer and vice-chair of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, 47, announced her engagement to billionaire Alex Soros, an investor and philanthropist.\u00a0The couple shared the happy news in a <\/span>joint Instagram post<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “This happened\u2026we couldn’t be happier, more grateful, or more in love \u2764\ufe0f \ud83d\ude0d \ud83d\udc8d,” Soros, 38, captioned the announcement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In the picture, the chairman of the\u00a0Open Society Foundations can be seen on bended knee in front of a shocked Abedin, who reaches out for his hands while wearing a stunning, form-fitting white dress. Soros matches his now-fianc\u00e9e\u00a0in a light-colored suit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It’s unclear exactly when the proposal happened but it looks to have taken place on the terrace overlooking a massive body of water.<\/span><\/p>\n Per <\/span>Vogue<\/em><\/a>, Soros popped the question to\u00a0Abedin in late May at their shared New York City apartment and the couple celebrated further in Italy with a bigger party.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Vogue<\/span><\/em>\u00a0also shared the news on\u00a0<\/span>Instagram<\/a>, revealing that Soros proposed to Abedin “at home in New York City in late May” with the couple having “a formal celebration in Italy” later.<\/span><\/p>\n In the comments, the couple’s famous friends celebrated their engagement and congratulated them on the happy news.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “Congratulations,” wrote <\/span>The\u00a0Bachelotte <\/span><\/em>alum, Tayshia Adams.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “I’m crying .. I’m so so happy for you Alex \u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f,” replied Jeannie Mai.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On Wednesday, <\/span>Vogue <\/span><\/em>also reported that the pair “met last fall at a mutual friend\u2019s birthday party, where they quickly discovered their mutual interests in politics and public service.”<\/span><\/p>\n Abedin was previously married to U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner from 2010 to 2017 prior to his cheating scandal.
