Lena Dunham<\/a>\u00a0always has <\/span>Taylor Swift<\/a>‘s back. In an interview with\u00a0<\/span>The New Yorker<\/em><\/a>, the former\u00a0<\/span>Girls\u00a0<\/span><\/em>actress, 38, speaks about her protective instincts over Swift, 34, with whom she’s been friends for more than a decade.<\/span><\/p>\n “I’m always very careful to be protective of her in every single way,” Dunham says. “Probably the two things I get asked most in life are ‘What is Taylor like?’ and ‘Can I have tickets to the Eras Tour?’ And usually my answer to both things is no.”<\/span><\/p>\n Though she didn’t want to divulge details about her pal, Dunham does say, “She’s everything that you would want her to be. She’s kind, she’s devoted, she’s introspective, she’s emotional, she’s funny as f**k.”<\/span><\/p>\n “I guess my feeling sometimes is, ‘Isn’t she giving us enough, guys?'” Dunham shares.<\/span><\/p>\n Dunham has supported Swift professionally, too, attending her Eras Tour in both Boston and Pittsburgh.<\/span><\/p>\n “I like to sometimes go to the cities that are a little bit more off the beaten path. I was telling Lu before we went, ‘Listen, you’ve never seen me like this,'” Dunham says of her husband, <\/span>Luis Felber<\/a>, whom <\/span>she wed<\/a> in 2021. “It’s like something comes through me — it’s my church. I start speaking in tongues.”<\/span><\/p>\n “Even since before Taylor and I were friends, I just always had felt such a deep connection to her music,” she continues. “Something unique to only me, obviously. I’ve seen every tour she’s ever done. I love seeing a woman who’s not yet 40 being, like, ‘Yes, I have a body of work.’ What I find inspiring is her acknowledgment of her own prolific expression.”<\/span><\/p>\n Dunham and Swift first connected over social media in 2012. Since then, Dunham has <\/span>publicly supported Swift<\/a> and the singer <\/span>served as a bridesmaid<\/a> at the actress’ wedding.<\/span><\/p>\n Elsewhere in the interview, Dunham revealed that <\/span>she won’t be starring<\/a> in her new Netflix series,\u00a0<\/span>Too Much,<\/span><\/em> instead opting to stay behind the camera. In contrast, Swift is very much in front of the camera as <\/span>she continues her Eras Tour<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n Recently, <\/span>Swift’s boyfriend<\/a>, <\/span>Travis Kelce<\/a>, <\/span>joined her onstage<\/a> during the show.<\/span><\/p>\n “It was definitely a new, defining point in their relationship and they had a blast getting the chance to [share] a personal side of themselves with the world,” a source previously <\/span>told ET<\/a> of the surprise appearance. “They are so happy with how everything turned out and loved seeing all the fan reactions.”<\/span><\/p>\n
