Devil Wears Prada<\/i> fans, gird your loins \u2014\u00a0a sequel is reportedly coming your way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aline Brosh McKenna<\/strong>, the screenwriter behind the 2006 fashion comedy, is working on a script for a follow-up film for Disney, according to multiple outlets<\/a>. Producer Wendy Finerman<\/strong> will return to oversee the project.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While no deals have been signed,<\/span> Puck News <\/i><\/a>reported on Monday, July 8, that both Meryl Streep<\/strong><\/a> and Emily Blunt<\/strong><\/a> are in talks to reprise their iconic roles as fearsome Runway<\/i> editor Miranda Priestly and Emily, Miranda\u2019s beleaguered assistant. Per the outlet, the sequel would have Miranda still at the helm of Runway<\/i> and navigating the current-day media landscape in which the internet has taken over and traditional publishing is no longer what it was, while Emily would be an executive at a luxury brand conglomerate that advertises with the magazine.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFans of The Devil Wears Prada have long been hoping for a sequel, but the cast is torn about revisiting the 2006 film. Anne Hathaway starred as Andy, an aspiring journalist who lands a coveted job as the personal assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the powerful editor of a fashion magazine called Runway (think: [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Based on <\/span>Lauren Weisberger<\/strong>\u2019s 2003 novel of the same name,<\/span> The Devil Wears Prada<\/i> centered on Anne Hathaway<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s Andy Sachs, whom Miranda hires to be her new underling. The editrix forces Andy and Emily to be on call, 24-7, fetching Starbucks and an unpublished copy of the latest Harry Potter<\/i> book. While Andy quits Runway<\/i>, preferring a low-key lifestyle to the flash of the fashion world, Emily remains with both Miranda, the magazine and a job \u201ca million girls would kill for.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The movie made $327 million worldwide and effectively launched Blunt\u2019s Hollywood career as well as that of Stanley Tucci<\/strong>, who portrayed Miranda\u2019s loyal deputy, Nigel. It also reintroduced Streep, then in her late 50s, to a younger fanbase.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Streep, 75, along with Blunt and Hathaway, now both 41, caused a stir<\/span><\/a> in February when they reunited onstage as presenters at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. When Blunt and Hathaway began recreating Streep\u2019s icy Devil Wears Prada<\/i> one-liners, Streep \u2014 wearing a crimson red Prada dress \u2014 cut in, saying, \u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019m anything like Miranda.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
