Minnie Driver<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about her past relationships.<\/p>\n In a new interview, the 54-year-old Good Will Hunting<\/em> actress spoke candidly about briefly being engaged to Josh Brolin<\/strong><\/a> in 2001 and admitted that if they got married, it would have been the \u201cbiggest mistake\u201d of her life.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>While speaking to U.K.\u2019s The Times<\/a><\/em>, Minnie<\/strong> first brought up the family dynamic she grew up in. Minnie<\/strong>\u2018s father was married to another woman during his 16-year relationship with her mother. While Minnie<\/strong>\u2018s parents were never married, her father did have two families.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I look at my history, what it did was make me want to be married so much and then choose men who were so not the right men to be married to,\u201d Minnie<\/strong> shared. \u201cSo I would carry on longing to be married and to have that conservative version [of a relationship], find men who had no interest in that, and then if one did, run a mile.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe one time I was engaged [to Josh<\/strong>] it would have been, I think, the biggest mistake of my life,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n Today, Minnie<\/strong> isn\u2019t married, but has been in a committed relationship with writer-director Addison O\u2019Dea<\/strong><\/a> since 2019.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m with someone who doesn\u2019t want to get married but who is the most devoted, loving, extraordinary,\u201d Minnie<\/strong> gushed. \u201cEverything I could have wanted in my childhood idea of a husband, he actually is.\u201d<\/p>\n Also in the interview, Minnie<\/strong> talked about taking a break from acting when she first became mom to son Henry<\/strong>, now 15. She shares Henry<\/strong> with TV writer Timothy J. Lea<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s why I stopped making movies, really consciously,\u201d Minnie<\/strong> explained. \u201cI called my agent and went, \u2018OK, I\u2019m having a baby and I would really like you to go and look for a show that\u2019s called Shoots in Los Angeles and will pay me a regular wage.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cI couldn\u2019t be traveling. I couldn\u2019t be taking a tiny baby to Romania \u2014 and I didn\u2019t want to. As a single mum, I didn\u2019t want him to have that uncertainty. I wanted him to have school and football and mates and tea and his own bed and our house.\u201d <\/p>\n While taking a break from acting in movies, Minnie<\/strong> appeared on TV shows including About a Boy<\/em> and Will & Grace<\/em>, which gave her more time to spend at home with her son.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was so lovely because with what you consciously give your children, you can perhaps at the same time be giving yourself the thing that you did not have,\u201d Minnie<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n In another recent interview, Minnie<\/strong> shared some rare comments about her relationship<\/a> with ex Matt Damon<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
