The former Oasis songwriter, 57, is a regular at the event in Worthy Farm, Somerset, and partied there over the weekend as headliners including Coldplay took to the Pyramid Stage and artists made a string of political statements.<\/p>\n
Noel ranted on his friend Matt Morgan\u2019s Patreon podcast after getting back home from the festival: \u201cDon\u2019t get me wrong, I f****** love Glastonbury. <\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s one of the most important things. In fact it\u2019s probably the best f****** thing about Britain apart from the Premier League.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s getting a bit woke now, that place, and a bit kind of preachy and a bit virtue-signalling. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI don\u2019t like it in music \u2013 little f****** idiots waving flags around and making political statements and bands taking the stage and saying, \u2018Hey guys, isn\u2019t war \u00adterrible, yeah? Let\u2019s all boo war. F*** the Tories man,\u2019 and all that.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt\u2019s like, look \u2013 play your f****** tunes and get off.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nNoel added crowds listening to political messages from bands weren\u2019t in a position to do anything about the world\u2019s problems.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cIt\u2019s too much. Donate all your money to the cause \u2014 that\u2019s it, stop yapping about it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cLet\u2019s just say for instance the world is in a bit of a f***** up place and you\u2019re all in a field in Glastonbury. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cWhat\u2019s the problem with that? I haven\u2019t got a problem with it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI guess if you\u2019re 18 and you\u2019re middle class you might have a problem with it. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut what\u2019s all the kids in a field at Glastonbury going to do about it?<\/p>\n
\n\u201cEverybody knows what\u2019s going on in the f****** world, you\u2019ve got a phone in your pocket that tells you anyway.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWhat is the point of virtue-signalling?\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThis year\u2019s Glastonbury saw musicians making statements about Palestine\u2019s conflict with Israel and immigration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
