Glen Powell<\/strong><\/a> has been open about his struggle to find a girlfriend of late, but friends say he\u2019s not doing himself any favors by being totally self-obsessed and turning off the ladies who come his way as a result.<\/p>\n \u201cI give Glen a lot of credit for parlaying small parts 10 years ago in movies like The Dark Knight Rises<\/em> into a blossoming career where you can put his face on the poster and people will show up and see him,\u201d a source who worked closely with Glen on one of his recent blockbuster-scaled projects exclusively tells Life & Style<\/em>. \u201cGood for him.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBut the big red flag around who he\u2019s become after all his success is this mission he\u2019s on to become the biggest movie star in the world,\u201d the insider adds. \u201cSure, he\u2019s learned from the greats like his idol Tom Cruise<\/strong>, but he\u2019s turning people off with his single-mindedness and I am not surprised at all that his love life, at least for the years he was living in Los Angeles, was filled with dead end relationships<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Glen starred in 2022\u2019s Top Gun: Maverick<\/em>, 2023\u2019s Anyone But You<\/em> and most recently, Hitman<\/em>, which was released on Netflix in June.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s hard to form a serious and intimate partnership when you\u2019re as in love with yourself as Glen is,\u201d the source says. \u201cRight now, his fix for this is to move back to Texas, but he\u2019s only going to face the same issues with the women<\/a> he comes across there.\u201d<\/p>\n After more than 15 years of living in Los Angeles, Glen decided to move back to his native Texas to spend time with his family and complete his college degree. The Scream Queens<\/em> alum told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> in May that the whole purpose of \u201cgetting to this point in Hollywood is that [he] can now leave Hollywood.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s like I\u2019ve earned the ability to go back to my family,\u201d he told the outlet.<\/p>\n Glen purchased a home located 30 minutes away from his mother in Austin after seeking advice from fellow Texas native Matthew McConaughey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018Hollywood is the Matrix, man. You plug in and it\u2019s all fake world,’\u201d Glen recalled. \u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018Then I go to Austin, and I unplug. It\u2019s all real. Those are my friends, that\u2019s my family, my actions matter there.\u2019 And he\u2019s right. If you\u2019re here, you live in the Matrix all the time, there\u2019s no separation of those worlds. And for me, especially as my parents get older and my niece and nephew are growing up, I want a separation of those worlds.\u201d<\/p>\n Now that his career has completely taken off and he gears up for the July 17 release of Twisters<\/em>, it seems like there\u2019s only one thing missing from Glen\u2019s picture-perfect Hollywood ascent \u2013 a leading lady.<\/p>\n \u201cIf he really wants a wife and a family, he needs to show some humility and he needs to show that he\u2019s living for more than just himself and his suddenly hot career,\u201d the insider shares. \u201cSo far, he hasn\u2019t been able to even come close to doing that!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
