The group parted ways with Dave Holmes in 2022 after more than two decades, sparking a lengthy legal battle, with the former band boss last year claiming he was owed a fortune in unpaid commission for Coldplay\u2019s tenth and eleventh albums, both of which are yet to come out.<\/p>\n

But Coldplay, led by frontman Chris Martin<\/a>, 47, countersued for \u00a314 million, claiming Dave had lost control of budgeting for their \u2018Music of the Spheres\u2019 tour and overspent by \u00a317.5 million. <\/p>\n

Papers filed at the High Court in London said Coldplay agreed an undisclosed seven-figure settlement to prevent private details being made public in court.<\/p>\n

A source told The Sun about the alleged payout deal: \u201cChris and the band are happy they\u2019ve drawn a line in the sand but it has come at a price. The settlement cost them millions. They just want to move on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nDave had accused the band of making up stories about mistakes and \u201cethical lapses\u201d on his part, and told Mail Online he felt the band knew they were in \u201ctrouble\u201d after they countersued him for \u00a314 million.<\/p>\n

\nA spokesman for the former manager said in October: \u201cColdplay knows they\u2019re in trouble with their defence. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cAccusing Dave Holmes of non-existent ethical lapses and other made-up misconduct will not deflect from the real issue at hand: Coldplay had a contract with Dave, they are refusing to honour it and they need to pay Dave what they owe him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nColdplay\u2019s lawyers alleged \u201chad Mr Holmes exercised reasonable care and skill in the performance of his obligations\u201d, the band would never have had to have incurred costs of at least \u00a317.5 million. <\/p>\n

\nExamples given included buying 16 \u201cbespoke stage pylons\u201d for lighting and video costing around \u00a310 million that then became too expensive to use.<\/p>\n

\nColdplay also said Dave used his position as their manager to land \u00a324 million in loans at preferable rates from concert giant Live Nation.<\/p>\n

\nDave managed the band for more than 22 years before the group dismissed him in 2022, despite having agreed to extend his contract to aid with their tenth and eleventh albums, according to his legal filing. <\/p>\n

\nColdplay said Dave\u2019s management agreement expired at the end of 2022, at which point they \u201cdecided not to start a new one\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
