It\u2019s official \u2013 Kim<\/strong><\/a> and Barry Plath<\/strong><\/a> are getting divorced.<\/p>\n The Welcome to Plathville <\/em>stars announced they were ending their marriage almost exactly two years ago, in June 2022, and the matriarch of the family recently officially filed the papers.<\/p>\n Learn more inside\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n According to docs obtained by ET<\/a><\/em>, Kim<\/strong> filed for divorce from Barry<\/strong> on June 26th in Georgia, noting their date of separation as December 23, 2021, six months before they announced it to the public.<\/p>\n The former couple were married July 12, 1997 and share 10 children together, three of which are currently underage. <\/p>\n In the court documents, Kim<\/strong> is seeking primary custody of their youngest children \u2013 Amber<\/strong>, 15, Cassia<\/strong>, 13, and Mercy<\/strong>, 11 \u2013 as she feels she is a \u201cfit and proper parent.\u201d She is also requesting Barry<\/strong> pay child support.<\/p>\n As for their property and assets, the docs state Kim<\/strong> is entitled to \u201cequitable division\u201d of marital assets and she\u2019s also entitled to other debts being divided between the two.<\/p>\n \u201cWhile this was not an easy decision, we know it\u2019s the best choice for both of us,\u201d Kim<\/strong> and Barry<\/strong> told ET<\/a> <\/em>in June 2022 when they announced their separation. \u201cWe have been through many highs and lows in our 24 years of marriage and as we navigate this new chapter in our lives, we will co-parent our amazing children.\u201d <\/p>\n Kim<\/strong> filing for divorce comes about eight months after her son Ethan<\/strong><\/a> and daughter-in-law Olivia<\/strong><\/a> announced they were separating <\/a>after five years of marriage.<\/p>\n The news also comes ahead of the new season of Welcome to Plathville<\/em> premiering on TLC.
