The Irishwomen, 40, famed for playing Laura McKee in the fifth and sixth series of the BBC gangster drama, has only now announced she gave birth to a daughter named Martha Josephine in March, who she had with her 49-year-old \u2018Ripper Street\u2019 actor partner.<\/p>\n

She told Kay Sheehy on RTE Radio 1 about how she was busy with a \u201cnew production\u201d and a \u201cbeautiful production\u201d of her own: \u201c’I think it\u2019s an incredibly special and poignant and beautiful production, if I do say so myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress also opened up about her family life as a new mother with her US-born actor husband Adam, who she married in 2021. <\/p>\n

She said: \u201cI had a little baby, so I\u2019ve been kind of out of the loop for a long time now. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cI\u2019ve just been in nesting mode and enjoying my little girl. She\u2019s just\u2026 she\u2019s very special.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nDespite a string of high-profile TV roles including on \u2018Ripper Street\u2019 alongside her husband and as DS Niamh McGovern in the BBC\u2019s \u2018Bloodlands\u2019, Charlene has admitted she lives with an \u201cexistential terror\u201d her acting work will dry up.<\/p>\n

\nShe told The Sun: \u201cI still live with the existential terror and dread it will go away. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cAnd everybody is like, ‘\u2019Are you taking time off?\u2019’ and I am taking time going, \u2018Don\u2019t go away though\u2019.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cYou feel nervous taking time off because you\u2019re like, \u2018’Will that be it then?\u2019 \u201cYou\u2019re going, \u2018I only wanted a few weeks lads, and it\u2019s a year later. What\u2019s the saying? \u2018You don\u2019t retire, the industry retires you\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
