The 44-year-old singer has been married to Andrew Levitas for a decade and she\u2019s been guided by advice from an older couple to maintain the \u201cfun\u201d and flirtiness in their relationship.<\/p>\n
She told Britain\u2019s HELLO! magazine: \u201cWe have friends, an older couple, who are happily married, and I often ask them for advice.<\/p>\n
\u201cI remember him saying to me once, \u2018Make sure you\u2019re always your husband\u2019s girlfriend \u2013 meaning be that fun person, go out on dates. That doesn\u2019t have to stop just because you\u2019re married. You still need to flirt and spend time together and that always stuck with me.\u201d<\/p>\n
The couple have two children, Aaliyah, eight, and six-year-old Xander and while both have inherited her love of music, Katherine thinks it is her son who is more likely to follow in her footsteps.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201c[Aaliyah] is sassy and courageous with a great sense of adventure and the performer gene. She does musical theatre and has joined the school choir. It makes me smile.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cEven if she never does anything with it, I see her with the buzz I used to have, that excitement from singing with people. I\u2019m so happy she\u2019s found that.<\/p>\n
\n\u201c[Xander] is the one who might end up singing one day.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe\u2019s got a very similar tone to the one I had when I was his age and I can tell he likes music. He\u2019s cautious and kind and funny and reminds me of my dad.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBut the opera favourite won\u2019t be pushing her kids into anything.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI want my children to decide what\u2019s in their heart and if they decide that\u2019s what they want to do, I\u2019ll support and help them.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut I don\u2019t want them to feel any pressure.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI want them to be able to love music and have that as a tool in their life because it\u2019s something they enjoy.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIf anything else comes from it, that\u2019s a bonus.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
