Bosses of the event at Worthy Farm, Somerset, confirmed on Sunday (30.06.24) it will not go ahead next summer as it will be one of its traditional \u201cfallow\u201d years to allow the land to recover from the thousands of fans who descend there for the music extravaganza.<\/p>\n
Organiser Emily Eavis, 44, whose farmer father Michael, 88, started the festival in 1970, told The Sun: \u201c(It will) give the land a rest. The festival before a fallow year is always a fun one to plan, because you almost have to fit two years into one. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re already in talks with some acts for it. It\u2019s exciting!\u201d<\/p>\n
Glastonbury\u2019s fallow years are usually every fifth summer, with its last one in 2018 before it returned the following year.<\/p>\n
\nSunday (30.06.24) saw the final day of this year\u2019s even \u2013 with Shania Twain, 58, performing in its coveted Legends Slot before a closing headline act by 34-year-old SZA \u2013 born Sol\u00e1na Imani Rowe \u2013 on the Pyramid Stage.<\/p>\n
\nEmily added about this year\u2019s event: \u201cI really would like to say thank you to everyone who\u2019s made this year so special.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt\u2019s got to be the best one yet. Every single one of our vast, incredible crew is crucial to making this event work. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd, of course, it simply wouldn\u2019t exist without the participation of the kind, brilliant, respectful festivalgoers. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI think people here show a better way to live, and that they do take a little bit of that back to the outside world with them.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt honestly restores your faith in humanity.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nColdplay\u2019s Saturday (29.06.24) night set saw them bring on Parkinson\u2019s-battling Michael J Fox, 63, in a wheelchair to tell him as he held a guitar he was the reason they became a band \u2013 in an apparent reference to his guitar playing in \u2018Back to the Future\u2019.<\/p>\n
\nDua Lipa played the Pyramid Stage the previous night and revealed to a 100,000-strong crowd: \u201cI\u2019ve written this moment down and wished for it and dreamt of it and worked so hard.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
