You might want to sit down, Wildcats \u2014 one of the most memorable dances from High School Musical 2<\/em> was almost entirely improvised.<\/p>\n

Zac Efron<\/strong><\/a>, who starred as Troy Bolton in all three of the Disney films, revealed that the iconic golf course dance to \u201cBet on It\u201d was actually cultivated on the fly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was all improv,\u201d he told his A Family Affair<\/em> costar Joey King<\/strong> during an interview with Still Watching Netflix<\/em><\/a> published on Monday, June 24. \u201cAnd we shot it, I think the whole song, in like three hours.\u201d<\/p>\n

High School Musical 2<\/em>, the sequel to the 2006 Disney hit, premiered in 2007 and follows the same cast of characters as they work their summer jobs at a country club. The \u201cBet on It\u201d scene happens amid a fit of anger from Troy at the movie\u2019s main antagonist, Sharpay<\/a> (Ashley Tisdale<\/strong>). The dance follows him across the club grounds as he punches the air and passionately belts out the lyrics.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHigh School Musical took over 7.7 million TV screens in the United States when it premiered in 2006, making it the highest-rated Disney Channel Original Movie at the time. The film followed basketball star Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and an intelligent transfer student, Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens), as they break the status quo of East High [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Efron not only said the dance didn\u2019t go as planned, he admitted there was no plan at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we shot that, we just had no ideas for what to do on the day,\u201d Efron said. \u201cThe director [Kenny Ortega<\/strong>], he was like, \u2018Dude, we have no concept for this song. What do you want to do?\u2019 I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t know, we\u2019re on a golf course.’\u201d<\/p>\n

King called the dance \u201ciconic,\u201d adding that she had a \u201cmini High School Musical<\/em> locker\u201d when she was a kid.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would put my pencil case in it and all this stuff, and I would press buttons and you would sing to me,\u201d King admitted.<\/p>\n

17 million viewers tuned into the High School Musical 2<\/em> premiere \u2014 a network record that still stands today. Its soundtrack debuted at No. 1 and was certified as double platinum the week of its release. It was the best-selling album of 2007.<\/p>\n
