The Pussycat Dolls<\/a> parted ways in 2010, but singer Nicole Scherzinger<\/strong><\/a> hasn\u2019t forgotten how grueling it was to be part of the group.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo the Dolls, it was a profoundly overwhelming experience, right?\u201d Scherzinger, 45, told the Sunday Times<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Thursday, June 27. \u201cIt was very difficult because I was really learning about myself along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scherzinger was recruited by Robin Antin<\/strong> in 2003 alongside Kimberly Wyatt<\/strong>, Melody Thornton<\/strong>, Jessica Sutta<\/strong>, Ashley Roberts<\/strong> and Carmit Bachar<\/strong> to create the Pussycat Dolls. The group shot to superstardom when their debut album PCD<\/em> spawned the mega-hit singles \u201cDon\u2019t Cha\u201d and \u201cButtons.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite being on cloud nine \u2014 and singing about it in 2008\u2019s \u201cTop of the World\u201d \u2014 Scherzinger said it was a \u201cdifficult time\u201d for everyone. Her memory of that period was all about \u201cstruggling and battling your own demons and issues and always being on the road.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey never allowed sleep in our schedule,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Scherzinger, who was the band\u2019s lead singer<\/a>, explained that the constant touring was \u201ca recipe for disaster\u201d and resulted in her \u201calways [having] sleeping issues.\u201d<\/p>\n

The musician noted that the industry is \u201ca lot different now\u201d because there are \u201crules set in place.\u201d When the Pussycat Dolls were at their peak that wasn\u2019t the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was just kind of like, \u2018Work them to the bone until they\u2019re passed out,\u2019\u201d Scherzinger claimed.<\/p>\n

Looking back, she also recalled feeling a sense of body dysmorphia which was heightened by the girls\u2019 sexy costumes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was difficult for me in the beginning because I didn\u2019t feel comfortable in my skin,\u201d Scherzinger confessed, clarifying that she \u201cdidn\u2019t feel exploited at all\u201d in the group \u201cbecause I was in control of what I was doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

She explained that while she \u201cdidn\u2019t love some of the clothes\u201d the Dolls wore, she had a lot of creative control. \u201cI wanted to look like Will.i.am<\/strong> and Gwen Stefani<\/strong>. So I got to wear clothes that I felt empowered in,\u201d Scherzinger remembered. \u201cAnd then the girls got to choose what they wanted too.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Scherzinger experienced ups and downs as a Doll, she reunited with the group in 2019<\/a> and confirmed they were embarking on The Pussycat Dolls Tour<\/em> in 2020. The singers released \u201cReact\u201d in February 2020 but had to postpone the tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSparks flew between Nicole Scherzinger and Thom Evans the moment they first laid eyes on each other in late 2019. The couple met on the U.K. set of The X Factor: Celebrity, which the Pussycat Dolls frontwoman judged alongside Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh. The former rugby player competed on the star-studded spinoff of the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Scherzinger announced in January 2022 that the tour was canceled<\/a>. \u201cI have invested a huge amount of time, creative energy and my own finances into bringing this project back to life,\u201d she wrote via social media. \u201cAnd while I\u2019m naturally incredibly saddened by this decision, I am also very proud of what we achieved in the short amount of time we had together before COVID.\u201d<\/p>\n

The cancellation took the rest of the group by surprise. Bachar, 49, and Sutta, 42, claimed at the time that they were \u201cincredibly disappointed\u201d to \u201clearn of an announcement made on Instagram that the Pussycat Dolls reunion tour is canceled.\u201d<\/p>\n

The duo revealed it was \u201cnot the outcome we had hoped for,\u201d but thanked their fans for their continued support. \u201cThis tour may have come to an end, but it is not the end of the Dolls story. We created a sisterhood<\/a> that will live on,\u201d Bachar and Sutta concluded.<\/p>\n

Antin, 62, raised eyebrows with her own statement about the cancellation, insinuating that Scherzinger was to blame.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been so excited to go out & connect with such incredible fans and give them what they truly deserve,\u201d the founder wrote via social media in January 2022. \u201cAll of us have made personal & financial sacrifices, but that\u2019s what it takes to be a team player in a \u2018BAND.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
