Real horror fans know that scary movies aren\u2019t solely reserved for fall.<\/p>\n

Whether it be the Friday the 13th films<\/em> taking place at Camp Crystal Lake, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre<\/em> being filmed in the heat of East Texas or a mysterious killer with a hook for a hand chasing around a bunch of kids in I Know What You Did Last Summer<\/em>, horror films have often turned to warmer months for their go-to setting over the years.<\/p>\n

Although October and Halloween remain the primary time of year for studios to release their scariest flicks, slashers and psychological thrillers have become more prominent summer blockbusters as well. 2024 is shaping up to be one of the best summerween years yet, serving up reboots, continuing franchises and brand new ones.<\/p>\n

Kicking off June\u2019s jump scares is A Quiet Place: Day One<\/em>, the third installment of the A Quiet Place<\/em> films and a prequel that takes viewers along for the day the world went silent. Following in July is another trilogy, MaXXXine<\/em>, which will feature the return of Mia Goth<\/strong> as this generation\u2019s favorite scream queen. There\u2019s also the reimagining of The Crow<\/em> starring Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd<\/strong> and the brand new psychological thriller Blink Twice<\/em>, written and directed by Zo\u00eb Kravitz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

And if you go too far outside of the visual norms, it will bump the story and be weird. Whereas in horror, you really can do anything. It\u2019s like a borderline experimental film genre. So, you can have a plot that motors along and all that, but you can get as as realistic or as unrealistic as you want.\u201d<\/p>\n
