Selena Gomez<\/a>\u00a0is offering an update on the upcoming\u00a0<\/span>Wizard of Waverly Place<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>reboot<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n The 31-year-old actress beamed as she <\/span>discussed the project<\/a> with her <\/span>Only Murders in the Building<\/em><\/a> co-star, <\/span>Martin Short<\/a>, as he guest hosted <\/span>Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/em><\/a> on <\/span>Wednesday<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “I’m so excited,” she said to rapturous applause from the studio audience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “It’s a show that means a lot to me,” she continued. “I will be in the first episode. I’m executive producing it and it brings me to tears because that is the beginning of where I started, and to honor it in this way has truly been a blast.”<\/span><\/p>\n She added, “I can’t wait for people to see it.”<\/span><\/p>\n Last month, Gomez appeared alongside <\/span>Wizards <\/span><\/em>co-star David Henrie in <\/span>a first look image<\/a> of the upcoming Disney Channel series,\u00a0<\/span>Wizards Beyond Waverly Place<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n The duo played siblings Alex and Justin in the magical Russo family on the original show for more than 100 episodes over four seasons from October 2007 to January 2012.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “The series follows an adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo,” according to a press release. “When Justin’s sister, Alex, brings Billie to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities — and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.”<\/span><\/p>\n Wizards Beyond Waverly Place\u00a0<\/span><\/em>will premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ later this year.<\/span><\/p>\n But first, Gomez returns for season 4 of\u00a0<\/span>Only Murders in the Building<\/em><\/a>\u00a0on Hulu, premiering on Aug. 27.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The latest chapter in the mystery-comedy series follows its central trio of true crime podcasters — Charles-Haden Savage\u00a0(<\/span>Steve Martin<\/a>), Oliver Putnam (<\/span>Short<\/a>)\u00a0and Mabel Mora (<\/span>Gomez<\/a>) — as they travel to Los Angeles to oversee a Hollywood studio’s adaptation of their story to the big screen.<\/span><\/p>\n Eva Longoria<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Eugene Levy<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Zach Galifianakis<\/a>\u00a0are all joining the cast as themselves — Hollywood stars who have been cast in the feature adaptation of\u00a0<\/span>Only Murders<\/span><\/em>. Longoria is playing movie Mabel, Levy is the cinematic Charles and Galifianakis is an Oscar-worthy Oliver.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Additionally, <\/span>Meryl Streep<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0<\/span>returning for\u00a0OMITB<\/em>‘s fourth season<\/a>\u00a0as Loretta Durkin and\u00a0<\/span>Da’Vine Joy Randolph<\/a>\u00a0is back as police detective\u00a0Donna Williams.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Melissa McCarthy<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Molly Shannon<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Richard Kind<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Kumail Nanjiani<\/a>, Desmin Borges, Siena Werber, Lilian Rebelo,\u00a0Richard Kind,\u00a0Daphne Rubin-Vega,\u00a0Catherine Cohen and\u00a0Jin Ha have also joined the cast this season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Gomez and Short showed off their close friendship during Wednesday’s late-night appearance, with Gomez even offering her 74-year-old co-star a makeover with her <\/span>Rare Beauty<\/a> products that they use on set.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
