The hottest acts will be taking the\u00a0<\/span>2024 BET Awards<\/a>\u00a0stage by storm! On Wednesday, BET announced that\u00a0Megan Thee Stallion is set to open this month’s show, joining the jam-packed list of performers making Culture’s Biggest Night the best so far.<\/span><\/p>\n Lauryn Hill<\/a>, YG Marley, <\/span>Ice Spice<\/a>\u00a0and Tyla will be hitting the stage along with previously announced performers GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey and <\/span>Victoria Mon\u00e9t<\/a>. <\/span>Will Smith<\/a> will also the stage to debut a new, original song, which he’s set to perform live.<\/span><\/p>\n Additionally, Tanner Adell will perform on the BET Amplified stage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It’ll be an exciting night\u00a0celebrating\u00a0<\/span>Black excellence across music<\/a>, television, film\u00a0and sports, and the nominations are stacked.<\/span><\/p>\n Taraji P. Henson<\/a>\u00a0will be <\/span>back to host\u00a0the annual awards show\u00a0for the third time<\/a>\u00a0on Sunday, June 30 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The\u00a0Golden Globe-winning\u00a0<\/span>actress previously hosted the 2021 BET Awards<\/a>, where she\u00a0used the opportunity to\u00a0<\/span>honor some iconic Black women<\/a>\u00a0who have impacted pop culture. Henson started the show with\u00a0<\/span>a memorable opening monologue<\/a>\u00a0and had roses handed out to several women in the room, including Zendaya, Jazmine Sullivan, Issa Rae and “Queen” Maxine Waters. She also donned various ensembles throughout the show that honored and celebrated the styles and looks of some groundbreaking artists.<\/span><\/p>\n In 2022,\u00a0<\/span>Henson took to the stage as the annual awards show’s official emcee<\/a>\u00a0once again, and kicked off the event by\u00a0<\/span>bringing attention to SCOTUS’ decision to overturn Roe v. Wade<\/a>, the landmark case that protected the right to an abortion.<\/span><\/p>\n This year, the show will be paying special tribute to\u00a0<\/span>Usher<\/a>, who will receive\u00a0the prestigious Lifetime Achievement BET Award. The\u00a0<\/span>“Love in this Club” singer<\/a>, 45, will join a celebrated list of\u00a0game-changers and industry pioneers who have left a lasting impact on the culture and entertainment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Previous Lifetime Achievement BET Award recipients include\u00a0Whitney Houston, Prince, Queen Latifah, Anita Baker, Mary J. Blige, Samuel Jackson, Lionel Richie, New Edition and Busta Rhymes.<\/span><\/p>\n The honor will also feature a line-up of surprise guests who will take the stage to present and truly celebrate the artists. The special guests will be announced at a later date.<\/span><\/p>\n Meanwhile, Drake leads this year’s slate of BET nominees with seven nods, including\u00a0Album of the Year for\u00a0<\/span>For All The Dogs (Scary Hours Edition)<\/em><\/a>, Best Male R&B\/Pop Artist, Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best Collaboration\u00a0<\/span>with Sexyy Red and SZA for “Rich Baby Daddy,”<\/a>\u00a0and twice for Video of the Year for\u00a0<\/span>“First Person Shooter” with J.
