\n\u2018The Hurt Locker\u2019 actor, 53, had his chest and legs pulverised by his tank-style, 14,300lb Pistenbully Snowcat as he tried to stop it hurtling into his nephew on New Year\u2019s Day, 2023, in Reno, Nevada, and he has now detailed the most graphic details yet of the near-fatal crush \u2013 including how his left eye bulged out of its socket as he fought for breath.<\/p>\n
\nHe told Men\u2019s Health: \u201c(The Snowcat) undulates, because there\u2019s four sections of tires with these metal tracks \u2013 it pulls it like a tank. I remember every undulation.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI remember my head cracking on the thing and it just pressing on me \u2013 it\u2019s exactly like you think it would feel. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cAn immovable object and a crushing force, and something\u2019s gotta give.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut thank God my skull didn\u2019t fully give. And then it kept going. Undulate, undulate, undulate, undulate. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cCheekbone broke, eye socket broke, and then from the crushing of getting run over by the machine, my eye bulged out. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI could see my left eyeball with my right eyeball. I was screaming for a breath.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJeremy went on about how he battled to survive: \u201cThere was no breathing happening. It\u2019s hard to use your stomach muscles when you have 14 broken ribs and a popped lung. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI don\u2019t know this at the time \u2013 I just needed to get air. I was going through the checklist of my body, figuring it the f*** out.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe first five minutes were about how I\u2019m going to breathe\u2026 I started getting really tired. My heart rate\u2019s going lower, lower, lower. Huooohohh, huooohohh, just this exhaustive breathing for 45 minutes.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut with the exhaustion there was almost peace. The EMTs arrived and I thought, I have to give my body up to them, because I\u2019m cooked. I\u2019m not getting up. These aren\u2019t just cramps. I\u2019m not gonna walk back down the driveway to see my family.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJeremy spent 12 days in an intensive care unit after his ordeal and called the experience a \u201cf****** disaster\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cShowering, going to the bathroom \u2013 everything was a disaster. Whooooooooo! They give you medications so you don\u2019t go to the bathroom, so you get constipated. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd you pee in a jar. It was awful. That\u2019s when you know things aren\u2019t going great \u2013 you\u2019re peeing in a plastic jug. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt took me 17 minutes to get out of bed. I was happy to sometimes sit up and push myself into a chair and move a little bit. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut a shower \u2013 everything took like half a day. I couldn\u2019t get stuff wet. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cYour hair gets super greasy and gross and you stink, but I had all these staples I couldn\u2019t wet, and I wasn\u2019t going to f****** risk infection. So I had sponge baths.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAfter months of physiotherapy Jeremy is still continuing to recover and is said to have just taken a lead role in the third movie of the \u2018Knives Out\u2019 franchise.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
