Kevin Costner<\/strong><\/a> doesn\u2019t need any more drama in his life.<\/p>\n

Costner, 69, candidly opened up about why he chose to confirm his exit from Yellowstone<\/em><\/a> last week after months of speculation about whether he would reprise his role as John Dutton in season 5B.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t tough,\u201d he said of his Thursday, June 20, announcement. \u201cIt was a necessary decision to say, \u2018Hey, OK, I don\u2019t want to really talk about this anymore. It\u2019s time to move on.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>, Costner added, \u201cI gave this thing five seasons. I was really happy to do it. And I don\u2019t need drama. So, let\u2019s just take that drama away, let\u2019s take the guessing [away]. The fans have been way too good to me. And my obligation is to go on and continue to make things that mean something to them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Yellowstone universe keeps expanding, and the franchise\u2019s flagship series is no exception \u2014 Paramount renewed the show for a fifth season in February 2022. Starring Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly and Wes Bentley, the drama series premiered on the Paramount Network in June 2018. The modern western has since become a phenomenon, inspiring multiple spinoffs [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The actor clarified his Yellowstone<\/em> future last Thursday just hours after Paramount Network confirmed<\/a> the hit drama\u2019s final episodes will premiere on Sunday, November 10, at 8 p.m. ET after a lengthy delay. (The first half of season 5 concluded in January 2023.) Paramount\u2019s announcement made no mention of Costner, who has led the Yellowstone<\/em> cast since the show\u2019s inception in 2018.<\/p>\n
