Any game between WNBA rookie phenoms<\/a> Angel Reese<\/strong> and Caitlin Clark<\/strong><\/a> is going to be hotly anticipated \u2013 and Sunday\u2019s game between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever lived up to fans\u2019 stratospheric expectations.<\/p>\n

Angel Reese netted a career-high 25 points on top of 16 rebounds, good for a rookie record eighth-straight double-double \u2013 while helping the Sky to a nailbiter of an 88-87 victory. The two teams kept it close through three quarters, with the lead regularly changing hands before the Fever got hot in the third and extended their lead by as much as 15 points. That momentum didn\u2019t hold, however, and the Sky stormed back to squeak out a one-point victory.<\/p>\n

Reese was the first rookie to record 25 points and 16 rebounds in a game since Olympic gold medalist and former WNBA MVP A\u2019ja Wilson<\/strong> in 2018. She is only one of three WNBA players to record eight straight double-doubles in history. Reese explained her run succinctly in a post-game interview.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWomen\u2019s college basketball has never been more popular, thanks in large part to a fierce rivalry between two of the game\u2019s biggest stars. Iowa\u2019s Caitlin Clark \u2014 who became the all-time NCAA scoring leader this season \u2014 and LSU\u2019s Angel Reese \u2014 who was named SEC Player of the Year \u2014 have helped usher in [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Clark also recorded a double-double, scoring 17 points and adding 13 assists. The pair have been rivals since their days in the NCAA. Clark and Reese lead Iowa and LSU, respectively, to back-to-back appearances in the Women\u2019s March Madness tournament. LSU beat Iowa for the national championship in 2023 and Iowa ousted LSU from the tournament this year.<\/p>\n

Reese told reporters in March that the pair hold no personal animosity toward each other.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think people realize it\u2019s not personal,\u201d Reese said. \u201cOnce we get out between those lines, if I see you walking down the street, it\u2019s like, \u2018Hey, girl, what\u2019s up? Let\u2019s hang out.\u2019 I think people just take it like we hate each other. Me and Caitlin Clark don\u2019t hate each other. I want everybody to understand that.\u201d<\/p>\n
