The 42-year-old has gone from R and B sensation to having astonishing success with her country album \u2018Cowboy Carter\u2019 \u2013 with the \u2018Texas Hold Em\u2019 singer reaching the top of Billboard\u2019s Hot country songs chart \u2013 but she has now spoken out about how she believes executives in her business don\u2019t like the \u201cbending\u201d of musical forms.<\/p>\n
She told The Hollywood Reporter: \u201cThe music industry gatekeepers are not happy about the idea of bending genres, especially coming from a Black artist and definitely not a woman.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beyonc\u00e9 became the first black woman to reach the top of Billboard\u2019s Hot country songs chart since its 1964 inception, while \u2018Cowboy Carter\u2019 also topped the all-genres Billboard 200, making it the singer\u2019s eighth No 1 album.<\/p>\n
But Beyonc\u00e9 insisted she no longer looks at \u201ccharts and sales\u201d for motivation when making music, and that paving the way for other black country singers is what now drives her.<\/p>\n
\nReferring to how her \u2018Texas Hold \u2018Em\u2019 hit dipped to the No2 spot on the country chart only after Shaboozey, 29, released \u2018A Bar Song (Typsy)\u2019 two weeks later, she said: \u201cWhen you are breaking down barriers, not everyone is ready and open for a shift. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut when I see Shaboozey tearing the charts up and all the beautiful female country singers flying to new heights, inspiring the world, that is exactly what motivates me.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere was a time in my life when charts and sales excited and motivated me. Once you have challenged yourself and poured every ounce of your life, your pain, your growth and your dreams into your art, it\u2019s impossible to go backward.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019m very grateful and humbled for the extraordinary success of the new album.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWhen Beyonc\u00e9 and Shaboozey were in the country chart, it was the first time two black artists held the No1 spot on it consecutively.<\/p>\n
\nBefore she released \u2018Cowboy Carter\u2019 Beyonc\u00e9 said on social media the record was \u201cborn out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed\u2026 and it was very clear that I wasn\u2019t\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cBut, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of country music and studied our rich musical archive.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
