Ron Howard has paid a glowing tribute to Donald Sutherland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ron Howard has heaped praise on Donald Sutherland<\/p>\n

The award-winning actor has passed away, aged 88, following a long illness, and Ron has taken to social media to pay tribute to Sutherland’s career.<\/p>\n

The 70-year-old filmmaker wrote on X: “#RIPDonaldSutherland. I was blessed to direct him in #Backdraft. One of the most intelligent, interesting and engrossing film actors of all time. Incredible range, creative courage and dedication to serving the story and the audience with supreme excellence. (sic)”<\/p>\n

Edgar Wright<\/a> has also taken to the micro-blogging platform to heap praise on Sutherland.<\/p>\n

The 50-year-old director – whose film credits include ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Baby Driver’ – wrote: “RIP the great Donald Sutherland<\/a>, a favourite actor and always fascinating screen presence. He starred in two of my very favourite and most influential films – \u2018Don\u2019t Look Now\u2019 and the 1978 \u2018Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers\u2019. But that is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of his legendary filmography; a funny, laconic, but also intense and dramatic presence in so many memorable movies, starting with his break-through in \u2018The Dirty Dozen\u2019, and then on an incredible run in the 70\u2019s, 80\u2019s and beyond with \u2018M*A*S*H\u2019, \u2018Kelly\u2019s Heroes\u2019, \u2018Little Murders\u2019, \u2018Klute\u2019, \u2018Don\u2019t Look Now\u2019, \u2018The Day Of The Locust\u2019, \u2018Ordinary People\u2019 and \u2018JFK\u2019, among many others.<\/p>\n

\n“I even adore his very early appearances in \u2018Dr Terror\u2019s House Of Horrors\u2019 and \u2018The World Ten Times Over\u2019, as well as his very silly cameo in \u2018Kentucky Fried Movie\u2019.<\/p>\n

\n“I know many of you following me will feel the same way about this great screen legend\u2019s passing, so please list your favourite Donald Sutherland films.<\/p>\n
