Riverdale<\/em><\/a> has made a name for itself with plenty of wild story lines, chaotic plot twists and surprising A-list guest stars.<\/a><\/p>\n The CW series, which debuted in 2017, introduced a group of friends who came together to uncover the dark secrets<\/a> that exist within their town. Based on the iconic Archie Comics, Riverdale took their audience for many unexpected rides over the years.<\/a><\/p>\n In season 2, the show spiced up the story of Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols<\/strong>)<\/a> running for mayor when Andy Cohen<\/strong> <\/a>appeared in Riverdale<\/em> to show his support.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m a huge Riverdale<\/em> fan, and I was on Radio Andy one day having just watched the season one finale, and it hit me, I was like, I need to come to Riverdale<\/em>. I want this to happen,\u201d the Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen<\/em> host shared with E! News<\/em> in 2018. \u201cSo, I said it on the air, and [executive producer] Greg Berlanti<\/strong> listens to Radio Andy on his way to work. And he emailed me that day, he said it\u2019s done. It was pretty easy.\u201d<\/p>\n At the time, Camila Mendes<\/strong><\/a> teased the backstory between her mother and Cohen<\/a>. \u201cAndy and Hermione have a history,\u201d the Do Revenge<\/em><\/a> star, who plays Veronica, added. \u201cThey have a friendship. The story is that Andy once reached out to Hermione to be on his show Real Housewives of New York City<\/em><\/a>, and she turned him down. But out of that they became friends, and when he found out she was running for mayor of Riverdale, he was like, \u2018All right, I\u2019m gonna go support her.’\u201d<\/p>\n Later that year, KJ Apa<\/strong><\/a> admitted that he didn\u2019t initially recognize Cohen when they crossed paths on set.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThe first time I met you was at craft [services]. In New Zealand, they don\u2019t play [WWHL<\/em>]<\/a> so I wasn\u2019t familiar with who you were,\u201d the actor, who portrays Archie, said on WWHL<\/em> in 2018. \u201cAnd I just remember, you were just sticking around at crafty, just eating for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n As Riverdale continued to find onscreen success, Mark Consuelos<\/strong><\/a> got the opportunity to work with wife Kelly Ripa<\/strong><\/a>. During season 3, the soap actress played the role of Hiram Lodge\u2019s surprise mistress.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201c[Riverdale creator] Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa]<\/strong> called me and said, \u2018Hey, I\u2019ve got a question to ask you. Do you think she\u2019d want to do it?\u2019 And I said, \u2018You know, yeah. Give her a call!\u2019 They spoke and they figured it out,\u201d Consuelos exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> in 2019 about how the collaboration was brought to life. \u201cRoberto\u2019s awesome, man. No one knows this world better than him. He just made it happen. I definitely did not ask for him to do that. I think he thought it would be so much fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
