A clip<\/a> from the June 12 episode of \u201cPodcrushed\u201d has gone viral after fans noticed the voice change.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s the only thing I thought of,\u201d Ariana, 30, said in a deep voice, as she joked that she felt like Austin Powers while recording new music. \u201cThat\u2019s how I felt. I was like, \u2018What has happened?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Then, as she pivoted to discuss whether she had more music coming following the March release of her album Eternal Sunshine<\/em><\/a>, the singer\u2019s voice noticeably started getting much higher. \u201cYeah, I don\u2019t know. Yeah, I\u2019ve been writing a lot,\u201d she said in a higher, squeakier pitch. \u201cMaybe there\u2019s some more. I would like to do a deluxe at some point.\u201d<\/p>\n While several social media users were confused by the voice change and wondered why Ariana was seemingly \u201cfaking\u201d the real sound of her voice, others defended the pop star. Many pointed out that she likely speaks in a higher, softer tone to \u201cpreserve\u201d or \u201cprotect\u201d her voice. Others noted that she could be struggling to shake off the voice she used to portray Glinda in the upcoming movie Wicked<\/em>, which finished filming earlier this year.<\/p>\n
