Below Deck Mediterranean<\/em><\/a>\u2018s Aesha Scott<\/strong> is defending Gael Cameron<\/strong> from criticism about her almost hookup with Nathan Gallagher<\/strong> after only knowing each other for several days.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is what it is. That\u2019s what they felt like doing at the time. The one thing that I will say in Gail\u2019s defense because I know that she probably will get a lot of heat online of like, \u2018Well, it didn\u2019t take you very long,\u201d Aesha exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> while weighing on on the season 9 drama. \u201cAs someone who was her roommate and witnessed her relationship with her current boyfriend \u2014 when she came on [the boat], that relationship was not in a great stable situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aesha hinted that viewers didn\u2019t see the whole story<\/a> when it came to Gael\u2019s offscreen relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of the messages that he would send her and the way that he would speak to her wasn\u2019t very nice,\u201d the chief stew noted. \u201cAnd I think that whole thing was very insecure to start with and they\u2019d only been together a few months.\u201d<\/p>\n

While reflecting on the situation, Aesha expressed her frustration at Gael\u2019s then-boyfriend, adding, \u201cI felt frustrated at her ex because I think if you really care about someone and they get presented an opportunity as amazing as coming on Below Deck, you need to be their biggest cheerleader.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aesha didn\u2019t think Gael\u2019s partner was supporting her the way<\/a> he should have been.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t want to cause them any worry. You don\u2019t want to be the reason that their mind is somewhere else or they\u2019re stressed about you back home. Even if you are mad, stay Switzerland the whole time because you want them to focus and be present 100 percent and you should be supporting them in that,\u201d she continued. \u201cHe just never, ever, ever supported her. And she was constantly having to worry about how he\u2019s feeling and what he is doing. I just found it so selfish.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this season, Gael and Nathan surprised viewers when they tried to find a place<\/a> on the boat without cameras to meet. The pair didn\u2019t initially confirm what their plans were but it was obvious they considered hooking up, despite Gael being in a relationship. The offscreen date \u2014 which didn\u2019t happen because production caught on \u2014 also came days after the deckhands met each other.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is right and what is wrong? Am I doing the right thing or the wrong thing?\u201d Gael said in a confessional from the June episode. \u201cMaybe I like him a little tiny bit. Maybe I just want to hang out with him a little bit. I\u2019m not harming anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAs soon as you step foot on a Below Deck Mediterranean charter yacht, you\u2019re guaranteed one thing: a whole lot of drama. Throughout its Bravo run, crew members like Captain Sandy Yawn, Hannah Ferrier, Malia White and more have been know to butt heads with each other \u2014 all with the purpose of delivering a [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Gael and Nathan\u2019s plans to interact without getting caught felt very reminiscent of Eddie Lucas<\/strong> and Raquel \u201cRocky\u201d Dakota<\/strong>\u2018s<\/a> secret meetings during season 5 of Below Deck<\/em>. The 2015 episodes were why production subsequently added cameras to the laundry room.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Aesha didn\u2019t have the same concerns about her personal life<\/a> because of her longterm relationship with Scott \u201cScotty\u201d Dobson<\/strong>. Us<\/em> broke the news in May that Aesha and Scott were engaged after several years of dating.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so special because as a lot of people know, Scott and I do spend so much time apart. He\u2019s often in Breckenridge and I\u2019m just flying around here, there and everywhere. I think getting engaged just further solidified us as a unit even when we are not together all the time,\u201d she told Us<\/em>. \u201cI just got this feeling of peace and contentment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple did have conversations about their future together, but Scott still surprised Aesha with the proposal.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe talked about marriage very early on. But the biggest thing is I wanted it to be a surprise. I don\u2019t want to expect it at all. I did not suspect a thing,\u201d she shared. \u201cWe want to do a long engagement. We want to [get married] in the New Zealand summer and not this summer but next summer. We\u2019ve got a lot of family and friends here so we want to give everyone a chance to save up enough money to turn it into a proper holiday. You can\u2019t go to New Zealand for four days.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aesha also shared the secret to making long distance relationships<\/a> work, adding, \u201cWe\u2019re just very fortunate in the sense that we are both very independent and it helps as well that we have complete trust. We\u2019re so stable that we know with every ounce of our being that once we are finished with the thing that we\u2019re doing, we\u2019ll be going back to that person and it will just carry on normal.\u201d<\/p>\n
