\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Russell Crowe<\/strong><\/a> doesn\u2019t think that actors should be talking negatively about superhero movies if they\u2019re making the choice to appear in them.<\/p>\n The 60-year-old Oscar-winning actor was specifically asked for his thoughts on Dakota Johnson<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s recent comments about making Madame Web<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cUnfortunately, I\u2019m not surprised that this has gone down the way it has,\u201d Dakota <\/strong>told Bustle<\/a> about the negative reviews for her movie. \u201cIt\u2019s so hard to get movies made, and in these big movies that get made\u2014and it\u2019s even starting to happen with the little ones, which is what\u2019s really freaking me out\u2014decisions are being made by committees, and art does not do well when it\u2019s made by committee.\u201d<\/p>\n In an interview with British GQ<\/a><\/em>, Russell <\/strong>was asked, \u201cDakota Johnson recently said that she struggled filming Madame Web<\/em>, and how those big-studio superhero movies can feel like art \u2018made by committee\u2019. I wanted to know what your experience is.\u201d<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Russell<\/strong> responded with a laugh, \u201cI don\u2019t want to make any comments to what anybody else might have said or what their experience is, but\u2026 you\u2019re bringing out the impish quality of my humour.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re telling me you signed up for a Marvel movie, and some f\u2013king universe for cartoon characters\u2026 and you didn\u2019t get enough pathos?\u201d he continued. \u201cNot quite sure how I can make this better for you. It\u2019s a gigantic machine, and they make movies at a certain size. And you know, I\u2019ve experienced that on the DC side with Man of Steel<\/em>, Zack Snyder<\/strong><\/a>, and I\u2019ve experienced it on the Marvel side via Disney with Thor: Love and Thunder<\/em>. And I\u2019ve also experienced the [Sony-produced] Marvel dark universe with Kraven the Hunter<\/em>. These are jobs. You know: here\u2019s your role, play the role. If you\u2019re expecting this to be some kind of life-changing event, I just think you\u2019re here for the wrong reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n Russell <\/strong>added, \u201cIt can be challenging, working in a blue-screen world, when you have to convince yourself of a lot more than just the internal machinations of your character. But for anything to be\u2026 and you can\u2019t make this a direct comment on her because I don\u2019t know her and I don\u2019t know what she went through, and the fact that you can have a sh-t experience on a film\u2026 Yeah, you can. But is that the Marvel process? I\u2019m not sure you can say that. I haven\u2019t had a bad experience. I mean [on Thor], OK, it\u2019s a Marvel movie, but it\u2019s Taika Waititi<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s world, and it was just a gas every day, being silly.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
