\n15 June 2024<\/time>\n<\/p>\nSinger Angela Bofill has died aged 70.<\/p>\n<\/p>\nSinger Angela Bofill has died aged 70<\/p>\n\nThe R and B sensation \u2013 best known for hits including \u2018This Time I\u2019ll Be Sweeter\u2019, \u2018I Try\u2019 and \u2018Angel of the Night\u2019 \u2013 passed away on Thursday (13.06.24) morning at her daughter\u2019s home in Vallejo, California, it was revealed to People by her representative on Friday.<\/p>\n\nNews of her death was also shared on the singer\u2019s Facebook account in two separate posts on Friday, one of which said: \u201cON BEHALF OF MY DEAR FRIEND ANGIE, I AM SADDENED TO ANNOUNCE HER PASSING ON THE MORNING OF JUNE 13TH.\u201d<\/p>\n\nThe post added Angela\u2019s funeral will be held at St Dominick\u2019s Church in California on 28 June at 1pm.<\/p>\n\nA second update stated: \u201cJUST TO CLEAR UP THE CONFUSION. ON BEHALF OF SHAUNA BOFILL, HUSBAND CHRIS PORTUGUESE, WE ARE SADDENED BUT MUST REPORT THAT THE PASSING OF ANGELA YESTERDAY IS INDEED TRUE. WE THANK MELBA MOORE AND MAYSA FOR THEIR EARLY CONDOLENCES. THANKS FOR YOUR MANY POST(S).\u201d<\/p>\n\nThe message was signed by Angela\u2019s friend and manager Rich Engel. <\/p>\n\nAngela opened up about her life and career in 2020 to Essence after rumours of her death had circulated online just months before her chat.<\/p>\n\nShe said she had found out about the hoax after she was hit by \u201ca lot of calls\u201d confirming if her passing was true.<\/p>\n\nAngela added: \u201cFriends calling up: \u2018Oh my God, am I talking to the ghost of Angela Bofill?\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\u201cThank God it\u2019s not true.\u201d <\/p>\n\nWhen asked how she felt to see the tributes pouring in during the death hoax, she replied: \u201cYou always must welcome love. I figured, \u2018They really like me!\u2019 \u201c(I\u2019m just) laughing at it, really. It\u2019s better to have a sense of humour.\u201d<\/p>\n\nAngela also said she had a will to live longer so she could see her grandchildren graduate from high school and college.<\/p>\n\nThe rumours of Angela\u2019s death spread after she suffered health complications in the wake of two strokes in 2006 and 2007. <\/p>\n\nShe told The Denver Post in 2011 after a five-year break from showbusiness so she could focus on her health: \u201cI feel happy performing again.
