He was taken to the hospital where he died of natural causes, the chief said to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/06\/deadliest-catch-nick-mavar-dead-1235973768\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deadline<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>No additional information was provided, though fans of the Deadliest Catch franchise will recall he actually left the series after a medical scare in 2020. He was the lead on Sig Hansen\u2019s F\/V Northwestern and maintained the mechanical equipment.<\/p>\n<p>He appeared in 98 episodes on<em>\u00a0Deadliest Catch\u00a0<\/em>from 2005 to 2021, as well as several spinoffs including\u00a0<em>Deadliest Catch: Siberian Winter<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Deadliest Catch: The Bait.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His time with the team came to an unexpected end when he sued the owners of the F\/V Northwestern, alleging there wasn\u2019t a proper plan in place to get him proper medical help during the pandemic. <\/p>\n<p>Sadly, Nick\u2019s death comes just days after\u00a0<em>Deadliest Catch<\/em>\u00a0Captain \u201cWild\u201d\u00a0Bill Wichrowski\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/06\/bill-wichrowski-deadliest-catch-cancer-1235969822\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">publicly shared<\/a>\u00a0his prostate cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>A rough time for everyone in the Deadliest Catch family. <\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re sending our condolences to his family, friends, and crew mates. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/urls.grow.me\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cudGhlaG9sbHl3b29kZ29zc2lwLmNvbS8yMDI0LzA2L25pY2stbWF2YXItY2F1c2Utb2YtZGVhdGgv\/e\/*%7CEMAIL%7C*\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nick Mavar, best known for his work on the reality show Deadliest Catch, is dead, with his cause of death attributed to a \u201cmedical emergency\u201d.
