ChromeOS will \u201csoon be developed on large portions of the Android stack\u201d so that it can roll out AI features at a faster pace, Google announced on Wednesday. The company says it will be embracing things like the Android Linux kernel and Android frameworks \u201cas part of the foundation of ChromeOS.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The changes won\u2019t just mean more AI features, according to Google. The company also noted that they will help \u201csimplify engineering efforts\u201d and \u201chelp different devices like phones and accessories work better together with Chromebooks,\u201d as detailed in a blog post<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Google surely wants to have Chromebook users trying as many AI-powered features as possible, so these changes will probably accelerate that. But the company cautions that while the changes to the tech stack are \u201cstarting now,\u201d they \u201cwon\u2019t be ready for consumers for quite some time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
