C\u00e9line Dion<\/a>\u00a0is staying strong for her sons. The 56-year-old singer continues to address <\/span>her ongoing health battle<\/a> with the rare autoimmune disorder, <\/span>Stiff Person Syndrome<\/a>, in a series of new interviews.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Speaking with <\/span>People<\/a> <\/span><\/em>for the magazine’s latest cover story, Dion addresses the importance of her role as <\/span>the sole living parent<\/a> to 23-year-old <\/span>Ren\u00e9-Charles<\/a> and\u00a013-year-old twins <\/span>Nelson and Eddy<\/a> following the 2016 <\/span>death of her husband<\/a>, their father,\u00a0Ren\u00e9 Ang\u00e9lil to throat cancer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “I barely could walk at one point, and I was missing very much\u00a0<\/span>living<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0My kids started to notice. I was like, ‘OK, they already lost a parent. I don’t want them to be scared,'” Dion tells <\/span>People<\/span><\/em>. “I let them know, ‘You lost your dad, [but] mom has a condition and it’s different. I’m not going to die. It’s something that I’m going to learn to live with.”<\/span><\/p>\n In a <\/span>separate interview with Hoda Kotb<\/a>, which will air in full on Tuesday during a primetime special for NBC, Dion promises to keep moving forward and performing for her fans.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “I\u2019m going to go back onstage, even if I have to crawl. Even if I have to talk with my hands, I will,” she says in a new preview that aired Tuesday morning on <\/span>Today<\/em><\/a>. “I am C\u00e9line Dion, because today my voice will be heard for the first time, not just because I have to, or because I need to. It’s because I want to and I miss it.”<\/span><\/p>\n Dion publicly\u00a0<\/span>shared her diagnosis for the first time<\/a>\u00a0in December 2022, telling fans how the condition’s muscle spasms impacts her singing and daily life and how she would not be able to go on her European tour.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Dion has more recently emerged back in the spotlight, stepping out onto the 2024 GRAMMYs stage in February along with her eldest son\u00a0<\/span>to present the award for Album of the Year to Taylor Swift<\/a>. She has also made a handful of appearances enjoying events including <\/span>a hockey game<\/a> and a <\/span>Rolling Stones concert<\/a> with her younger twins.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She is expected to give audiences a deeper look inside what she’s been enduring with the release of her upcoming\u00a0Prime Video docuseries,\u00a0<\/span>I Am: Celine Dion<\/span><\/em>. Helmed by Academy Award-nominated director Irene Taylor, the doc begins streaming globally on June 25.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Dion’s full interview with Kotb for\u00a0<\/span>NBC Nightly News<\/span><\/em>\u00a0airs Tuesday, June 11 at 10 p.m. PT\/ET.
