Jerry Seinfeld<\/a>, 70, said in a new interview it was \u201csomething of a worry for people that can\u2019t think\u201d \u2013 and added in a separate chat he misses the days of \u201cdominant masculinity\u201d.<\/p>\nJulia told the newspaper in an article published on Monday (10.06.24): \u201cIf you look back on comedy and drama both, let\u2019s say 30 years ago, through the lens of today, you might find bits and pieces that don\u2019t age well.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I think to have an antenna about sensitivities is not a bad thing.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt doesn\u2019t mean that all comedy goes out the window as a result.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJulia \u2013 who has appeared in a famous so-called \u2018woke\u2019 sketch on Amy Schumer\u2019s skit show in 2015 about ageing women no longer being \u201cf***able\u201d \u2013 admitted she understands why people \u201cmight push back\u201d on political correctness.<\/p>\n
\nHowever, she stressed: \u201cBut to me, that\u2019s a red flag because it sometimes means something else. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI believe being aware of certain sensitivities is not a bad thing. I don\u2019t know how else to say it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe Times piece said Julia called back 11 days after her initial chat with the publication to clarify her position on the issue.<\/p>\n
\nShe added to the paper: \u201cI wanted to make sure that I answered this whole idea of political correctness correctly, and I can\u2019t really remember what I said. So I wanted to go back to that and be very clear about where I stand. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cMy feeling about all of it is that political correctness, insofar as it equates to tolerance, is obviously fantastic. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd of course I reserve the right to boo anyone who says anything that offends me, while also respecting their right to free speech, right?\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJulia said the \u201cbigger problem\u201d in the world is the \u201cconsolidation of money and power\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nThe actress believes the \u201csiloing of studios and outlets\u201d as well as \u201cstreamers and distributors\u201d is a threat to the \u201ccreative voice\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cSo that\u2019s what I want to say in terms of the threat to art.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe actress also said the shift towards more diversity in the arts is \u201cvery much for the good\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
