Jana Kramer<\/b><\/a> reflects on reuniting with <\/span>One Tree Hill<\/span><\/i><\/a> costar Austin Nichols<\/strong> in their new movie, Gaslit By My Husband: The Morgan Metzer Story<\/em>, during an exclusive video interview with Life & Style<\/em>.<\/p>\n She stars in the Lifetime movie as Morgan and Austin, 44, portrays her husband, Rodney, who is physically, sexually and mentally abusive<\/a> towards his wife.<\/p>\n After she was cast in the film, Jana, 40, admits she worried about who would be cast as Rodney due to \u201cthe nature of this movie.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI knew how triggering it was gonna be for me. I really wanted to trust the person that was gonna be playing this part with me and have that safety, and so they said they put an offer out to Austin and I\u2019m just like, \u2018Please please please. I hope that he accepts it,\u2019\u201d Jana, who has been open about her own past experiences with domestic abuse, recalls to Life & Style<\/em>. \u201cFrom the time that I met Austin on One Tree Hill<\/em><\/a>, we formed an amazing friendship together. He\u2019s a wonderful friend, he\u2019s an incredible actor and I\u2019ve always felt safe in his presence, you know, in scenes and off camera.\u201d<\/p>\n After the production team sent an offer to Austin, Jana says she reached out to gauge his interest. \u201cI texted him on the side and was like<\/a>, \u2018Hey, I don\u2019t know, you know, what your thoughts are, if you\u2019re gonna take this movie or not, but like anything I can do \u2026 I hope you take it,\u2019\u201d she shares. \u201cThey were able to work out some date things and, you know, he accepted the role.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI could not have done it with anybody but him<\/a> because in those moments that were so hard filming, I knew at the end that I had someone that I could trust and I could have safety with,\u201d Jana shares about filming the intense scenes that depict abuse.<\/p>\n Despite being \u201csuch great friends\u201d with Austin, Jana admits that the filming process wasn\u2019t always fun due to the intense scenes they had to film. \u201cThe first week we\u2019re filming the attack scene<\/a> and there\u2019s no, like, \u2018Hey Austin. How are you?\u2019\u201d the Friday Night Lights<\/em> alum explains. \u201cYou gotta get into character and it\u2019s dark and it\u2019s heavy stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n Prior to reuniting for Gaslit By My Husband: The Morgan Metzer Story<\/em>, Jana and Austin worked together on One Tree Hill. While he starred on the CW drama as Julian Baker from 2008 until 2012, she portrayed Alex Dupre from 2009 until 2012.<\/p>\n
