Dasha<\/strong> put a ton of work into her single \u201cAustin,\u201d but the reaction to the track and viral TikTok line dance still knocks her back on her heels.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe pace at which my life is changing is alarming,\u201d she told Us Weekly<\/em> when we caught up to the California-born Nashville resident. \u201c[\u2018Austin\u2019] flipped [my life] on its head.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former pop singer took a turn toward country music on her 2024 album What Happens Now?<\/em> She choreographed a line dance to promote the kiss-off anthem, but had no idea how well it would work.<\/p>\n

\u201cDid your boots stop workin? \/ Did your truck break down? \/ Did you burn through the money? Did your ex find out?\/Where there\u2019s a will then there\u2019s a way and I\u2019m damn sure you lost it \/ Didn\u2019t even say goodbye \/ Just wish I knew what caused it,\u201d Dasha, 24, sings on the track that was ripe for an energetic bit of boot-scooting. She wanted to make sure the song found its audience.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAdam Budd Dasha is the latest mononymous singer taking over the music industry. Not only has her song \u201cAustin\u201d taken over TikTok \u2014 and what seems to be everyone\u2019s \u201cFor You Page\u201d \u2014 but the line dance to go along with the track is kicking off the return of choreographed routines on the social media [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe whole, like, North Star of starting the line dance and everything was to get \u2018Austin\u2019 played in honky tonks. Into the rotation, you know?\u201d she said. \u201cAs long as it gets played in honky tonks, like, that\u2019s all I want out of this whole thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dasha got what she wanted and more with billions of views on TikTok and her first single to break the Billboard Top 40. \u201cAustin\u201d currently sits at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100, its highest position yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike three days in, I got hit up by so many DJs with videos of like 30 people doing it,\u201d she said. \u201cSo fast. And that\u2019s when I was like, if this is happening in three days\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Dasha spent the weekend performing for her largest-ever crowd at CMA Fest and collaborating with Keith Urban<\/strong> on a mashup of \u201cAustin\u201d and Johnny Cash<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cJackson.\u201d<\/p>\n
