American Idol<\/em><\/a> alum Colin Stough<\/strong> has one person in mind to replace Katy Perry<\/strong><\/a> on the judges panel: Adele<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve not always loved her music, but I\u2019ve always respected her as a person for her work ethic. In this industry, you have to have a work ethic,\u201d Stough exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> at CMA Fest on Saturday, June 8, referring to Adele, 36. \u201cTo me, she has a different fame. She has true music fame, not like a TV fame or a publicity fame or anything like that. [Fame] just comes from her music.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Stough noted that he\u2019s \u201cnever met\u201d Adele, he said she \u201cseems amazing.\u201d He added, \u201cShe seems like she stands up for what she thinks and I love that about her. I\u2019d love to meet her one day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stough joked that he\u2019d like to have a \u201csit-down conversation\u201d with the \u201cHello\u201d singer about why she\u2019s the perfect candidate for the role<\/a> after Perry\u2019s departure. (Perry, 39, announced her exit from the show<\/a> during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> in February.)<\/p>\n

For the first seven seasons of the show, the trio remained the faces of the series, along with host Ryan Seacrest. (Comedian Brian Dunkleman cohosted the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Stough placed second runner-up<\/a> during season 21 of American Idol,<\/em> which premiered in February 2023. Since his time on the reality singing competition, Stough said that much of life has \u201cchanged.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJust blessings,\u201d he said. \u201cOne thing I really love about this is the music industry has really pushed me closer to God. Before I was doing this, I kind of drifted away a little bit, and I know I might get on stage, cuss, do this, do that, things you don\u2019t like. But at the end of the day, I\u2019m a God-fearing Christian. So I love him to death. That\u2019s one thing that has mainly changed in my personal life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stough continued, \u201cJust being somebody, like, that\u2019s really another main thing. And it\u2019s awesome and I just love everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for the fan response he\u2019s received since the show, Stough said \u201cit\u2019s nuts.\u201d He added, \u201cIt\u2019s good because [I] come from a hometown where, you know, you don\u2019t really do much. Every guy there is a hard ass, you know what I mean? So being a little bit different, kind of showing that people really, really love that.\u201d<\/p>\n
