But with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/style\/story\/jennifer-lopez-and-ben-affleck-photographed-together-for-the-first-time-since-march\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">speculation running wild<\/a> that Lopez and Affleck\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/news\/2022\/07\/ben-affleck-and-jennifer-lopez-married\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">less-than-two-years-old marriage<\/a> is over, news that the couple is selling their shared Beverly Hills home feels stressful, indeed.<\/p>\n<p>Public sightings of the newlyweds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/style\/story\/jennifer-lopez-and-ben-affleck-photographed-together-for-the-first-time-since-march\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sharply declined since<\/a> the February release of <em>The Greatest Love Story Never Told<\/em>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/ben-affleck-supports-and-steals-the-greatest-love-story-never-told\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documentary ostensibly about<\/a> the making of Lopez\u2019s self-funded, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/the-most-jaw-dropping-moments-in-this-is-me-now\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Affleck-inflected<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/this-is-me-now-is-jennifer-lopezs-sickly-sweet-lemonade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">visual album <em>This Is Me&#8230; Now<\/em><\/a>. So that was a bit of an adjustment for me.\u201d And a scene in which the two discuss their reconciliation after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/style\/2021\/04\/ben-affleck-jennifer-lopez-instyle-may-cover-aging-acting-gigli-ex-fiance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">breakup in 2004<\/a> feels especially prescient.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">\u201cListen, one of the things I don\u2019t want is a relationship on social media,\u201d Affleck says he told Lopez. \u201cI sort of realized it\u2019s not a fair thing to ask. It\u2019s sort of like, you\u2019re going to marry a boat captain, and [you\u2019re like], \u2018Well, I don\u2019t like the water.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">It is perhaps admirable for an aquaphobic to throw those fears to the wind to be with their beloved captain, but in the real world, it\u2019s rarely that simple. That, along with incidents like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/ellendurney\/ben-affleck-slammed-a-door-on-jennifer-lopez-in-viral-video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">that viral door slam<\/a> from over a year ago, has prompted people to speculate from the beginning that their marriage might be on borrowed time. (Representatives for Affleck and Lopez have not responded to <em>Vanity Fair\u2019s<\/em> request for comment.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">That\u2019s also why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2024\/06\/08\/jennifer-lopez-ben-affleck-sell-marital-home-beverly-hills-divorce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a TMZ report<\/a> that Affleck and Lopez hired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/how-buying-beverly-hills-got-the-exclusive-on-kyle-and-mauricios-shocking-split\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Buying Beverly Hills<\/em><\/a> <strong>Santiago Arana<\/strong> to sell the $60 million Beverly Hills home the couple moved into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2023\/05\/31\/jennifer-lopez-ben-affleck-buy-home-house-estate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">just last year<\/a> feels especially significant. According to the outlet, Arana has been showing the 12 bedroom\/24 bath home for about two weeks, but no buyers have emerged for the property, which reportedly boasts an asking price of $65 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">The real estate deal isn\u2019t the only disruption in Lopez\u2019s life in recent weeks, as earlier this month, the polymath also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/culture\/story\/jennifer-lopez-ben-affleck-tour-canceled\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">canceled her ambitious national stadium tour<\/a>.
