Macaulay Culkin<\/strong><\/a> recently opened up about his \u201ccomplicated relationship\u201d with his dad, but he wasn\u2019t letting that stop him from enjoying Father\u2019s Day with his two sons<\/a>, whom he shares with longtime partner Brenda Song<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cSince becoming a papa myself I\u2019ve decided to reinvent the wheel. Other than getting an hour or two of extra sleep I try to make the day a celebration of my boys more than me,\u201d Macaulay, 43, wrote via Instagram<\/a> on Wednesday, June 5. \u201cAfter all, they are the ones who made me a father (no offense to Brenda). In our house Father\u2019s Day isn\u2019t held in as high regard as birthdays or Christmas but it does mop the floor of such holidays as St. Patrick\u2019s day, Valentine\u2019s Day, and the 4th of July. I try to do fun things for the boys on Father\u2019s Day. It\u2019s a special day.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cFather\u2019s Day isn\u2019t for me, it\u2019s for the people that make me feel like a father.\u201d<\/p>\n Along with the caption, the Home Alone<\/em> star<\/a> shared a photo of a care package he received from Lucasfilm that included a plush Darth Vader toy and \u201cthings that are more meant for my children to enjoy.\u201d<\/p>\n Macaulay has been open about his tumultuous relationship with his father, Christopher \u201cKit\u201d Culkin<\/strong> in the past. In 2018, the Good Son<\/em> star appeared as a guest on Marc Maron\u2019s<\/strong> \u201cWTF<\/a>\u201d podcast and revealed that he hadn\u2019t spoken to his father in \u201cabout a quarter of a century\u201d and that the two were \u201cnever tight.\u201d<\/p>\n As Macaulay\u2019s fame grew, he claimed his father was \u201crelatively jealous\u201d of his success.<\/p>\n \u201cEverything he tried to do in his life, I excelled at before I was 10 years old,\u201d the My Girl<\/em> actor explained.<\/p>\n When Marc, 60, asked Macaulay how his dad\u2019s dislike of him manifested when he was young, he replied, \u201cHe was a bad man, honestly. He was abusive, physically and mentally. I can show you all my scars if you want me to, but yeah, no, he was a bad dude.\u201d<\/p>\n In 2001, the dad of two<\/a>, recalled a moment when his father wouldn\u2019t allow him to sleep in a bed simply to show Macaulay he was in charge.<\/p>\n \u201cI was making God-knows-how-much money, and Kit was making me sleep on the couch, just because he could,\u201d Macaulay \u200btold the New York Times<\/em><\/a> at the time. \u201cJust to let you know who\u2019s in charge and just to let you know if he doesn\u2019t want you to sleep in a bed, you\u2019re not going to sleep in a bed.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
