Looking back, The Bachelorette<\/em> alum Rachel Lindsay<\/strong><\/a> would\u2019ve started her marriage to Bryan Abasolo<\/strong><\/a> differently \u2014 with a prenup. The reality TV star recently opened up about her regrets over not signing an agreement before they tied the knot in 2019.<\/p>\n \u201cA lot of people are like, \u2018You\u2019re a lawyer. \u2026 Do you have a prenup?\u2019 I don\u2019t,\u201d Rachel, 39, said on the \u201cHidden Gems with Natasha Parker<\/a>\u201d podcast on Thursday, June 6. \u201cThe reason I didn\u2019t is because the place I\u2019m in now \u2026 financially \u2026 is totally different than when I got married. We were more leveled, and I wasn\u2019t in California.\u201d<\/p>\n Rachel added that she had told Bryan, 44, when they got engaged after meeting on The Bachelorette<\/em> season 13 that a prenup would be a good idea. However, they \u201cweren\u2019t on the same page,\u201d and she \u201cdidn\u2019t want it to be a bigger issue.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo we didn\u2019t have one,\u201d she continued. \u201cHindsight is 20\/20. I would\u2019ve done it.\u201d<\/p>\n Bryan filed for divorce<\/a> from Rachel in Los Angeles on January 2, according to court records viewed by Life & Style<\/em> at the time. He then addressed their split on social media.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter more than 4 years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to part ways and start anew, My parents have been married forever and I\u2019m a family man but sometimes loving yourself and your partner means you must let go. I wanted you to hear it from the source before the blogs start making up their own reality,\u201d he wrote on Instagram. \u201cPlease respect the spaces of our family and friends as we figure out our next steps. Respectfully, Bryan.\u201d<\/p>\n Bryan cited the reason for their split as \u201cirreconcilable differences\u201d and listed their date of separation as December 31, 2023. He also requested spousal support and claimed that their North Hollywood, California, home was community property.<\/p>\n Rachel broke her silence<\/a> the following day, telling listeners on her \u201cHigher Learning\u201d podcast that she was grateful to those who reached out to support her.<\/p>\n \u201cObviously it\u2019s a difficult time, if you\u2019ve read the headlines, and you\u2019re probably wondering why I would even work,\u201d the attorney said. \u201cBut to be honest with you I need to distract myself from myself and the best way to do that is to do something that I love and I love \u2018Higher Learning.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Rachel told podcast host Natasha Parker<\/strong> that the split was \u201camicable,\u201d but she thought Bryan\u2019s filing was \u201cunnecessarily messy.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe were having issues, but we were trying to work on it,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
