Scheana Shay<\/strong><\/a> made a claim on her podcast recently about the last season of Vanderpump Rules<\/strong><\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n On Scheananigans<\/a><\/em>, she said that the cast was told mid-season the show was going to end up with a shortened season and it would be canceled if they didn\u2019t do something.<\/p>\n Now, the show\u2019s executive producer Alex Baskin<\/strong> is responding to her claims and setting the record straight.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI know Alex Baskin<\/strong> has said that midseason, the show was not in a good place,\u201d Scheana <\/strong>said on her podcast. \u201cIt was, you know, \u2018X, Y and Z needs to happen. Or we\u2019re going to have a short season, and the show\u2019s going to be canceled and that\u2019s it. Go live your lives.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWell, we don\u2019t want the show to get canceled,\u2019\u201d she added. \u201cNot just for ourselves and our families, but there\u2019s a crew of 80 to 100 people who work on this show.\u201d<\/p>\n While appearing at the \u201cReality Producers Tell All\u201d panel at Variety\u2019s TV FYC Fest<\/a><\/em>, Alex<\/strong> confirmed there was a meeting, but clarified what the cast was told.<\/p>\n \u201cWe did get the entire cast together, and we thought we had hit a point in the season where I actually think that they were impacted by what was happening on social media,\u201d Alex<\/strong> said. \u201cWe basically were telling them to drown out the noise, and to make the show that they had made over the previous 10 seasons \u2014 and that didn\u2019t mean we asked them to manufacture anything.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt didn\u2019t mean that we gave them any specific talking points,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt just meant that we had made a show that worked because it was everybody rowing in the same direction, and reacting to each other. And we\u2019ve gotten away from that. So we thought that we had to intervene in that sense.\u201d<\/p>\n As you may have seen, Vanderpump Rules<\/em> is taking a break from filming this summer to reportedly give the cast a break. They are set to reassess later this year to see where everyone is at and when they could start filming<\/a>.<\/p>\n There is speculation that the pause is to ensure that Ariana Madix<\/strong><\/a>, who has been one of those at the center of \u201cScandoval,\u201d will return. She is currently in Fiji to host the next season of Love Island<\/strong><\/a><\/em>. She will then head back to New York to return to the musical Chicago<\/em> <\/a>for another month of performances, so she has minimal availability to film VPR<\/em> over the next few months. IF she does decide to return to the show<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI think we will do an analysis of what else we need to consider for the show \u2014 and that\u2019s who returns, and what the complexion of the cast looks like,\u201d Alex<\/strong> said about the break. \u201cI think everybody needs a little bit of time to live their lives, and then we can pick back up on them in a different spot.\u201d<\/p>\n Need a Bravo fix?
