She revealed in 2022 that she has the rare neurological condition known as stiff person syndrome. Because of that diagnosis, she has stepped back to work on her health. <\/p>\n<p>Sitting down with Hoda Kotb for both <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/news\/celine-dion-stiff-person-syndrome-today-preview-rcna155867\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Today<\/a><\/em> and a primetime special, the Canadian superstar revealed her condition has affected her ability to sing.<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s worse than anyone can even imagine. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"See a first look at Hoda Kotb\u2019s interview with Celine Dion\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/k1SEK-OpOXw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like somebody is strangling you,\u201d Celine said a sneak peek of their conversation. \u201cIt\u2019s like somebody is pushing your larynx\/pharynx this way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Celine even goes so far as to demonstrate. She doesn\u2019t sing, but she does fluctuate her voice to demonstrate how it would sound. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was like talking like that, and you cannot go high or lower,\u201d she explains. \u201cIt gets into a spasm.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-i-have-broken-ribs\">\u2018I Have Broken Ribs\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>The spasms Celine experiences can attack different parts of her body, including her abdomen, spine and ribs.
