On Thursday, the singer, 25, released her latest single, “Please Please Please,” and tapped\u00a0<\/span>Barry Keoghan<\/a>\u00a0to star in the track’s accompanying video.<\/span><\/p>\n Carpenter’s video, which was directed by Bardia Zeinali, picks up with Carpenter in jail after she was arrested at the end of <\/span>her “Espresso” video<\/a>. The video proceeds with Carpenter falling for a convict, played by Keoghan.<\/span><\/p>\n “I ended the last video getting arrested, so naturally I thought it would be satisfying to start the ‘Please Please Please’ video in jail,” Carpenter told <\/span>Vogue<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>via email. “I liked the idea of falling in love with a convict and being shocked and embarrassed every time he commits crimes. I was sooo lucky to get Barry Keoghan in the video cause he is just magic on screen.”<\/span><\/p>\n As for the track itself, Carpenter collaborated with\u00a0<\/span>Jack Antonoff<\/a> and Amy Allen to highlight her razor-sharp lyrics and signature conversational delivery over buoyant production.<\/span><\/p>\n “Please Please Please” is Carpenter’s latest single off of her upcoming album,\u00a0<\/span>Short n’ Sweet<\/span><\/em>, which is out Aug. 23.<\/span><\/p>\n When it comes to her personal life, Carpenter has been linked to\u00a0Keoghan since the end of 2023.\u00a0They\u00a0<\/span>were photographed<\/a>\u00a0several times out and about in California, and made further headlines when\u00a0<\/span>Keoghan traveled to Singapore<\/a>\u00a0to support Carpenter’s opening gig on\u00a0<\/span>Taylor Swift<\/a>‘s Eras Tour.<\/span><\/p>\n Keoghan wore<\/a>\u00a0a “Sabrina” friendship bracelet shortly thereafter, and then the pair\u00a0<\/span>finally posed together<\/a>\u00a0at<\/span>\u00a0Vanity Fair<\/span><\/em>‘s Oscars after-party.
